Picard Poster

It’s called (ironically, given the pooch in the poster) a sun dog. Sun dogs are caused when the sunlight refracts off ice crystals in the atmosphere. Now, all that said, the rings are usually seen along the horizon, not in the middle of the sky.
It depends. I've seen sun dogs (and their lunar equivalent) higher in the sky.

I think you must have confused me with another poster. I only posted once in this thread about the dog, and it was only a couple of sentences. Certainly not a rambling diatribe. I don't hate the dogs at all, I just don't think this particular breed is attractive.
My question is whether TNG liked dogs. In "Aquiel," there was that one that went after Geordi (who didn't have a good track record with pets anyway). I wanted to see a lot more of Amanda Rogers' puppies in "True Q," but they weren't allowed to stick around. The Trois had a dog that got away and led to tragic circumstances. Oddly enough, Troi's son Ian also played with some dogs on the Enterprise before breaking Deanna's heart as well. Overall, it doesn't seem like TNG was head-over-heels for hounds. Send them all my way.

Picard likes dogs in the Nexus. The person he thought was Kirk but who was just a figment of Picard's Nexus fantasy had a dog named Butler. The real Kirk never had a dog, so ergo Picard just dreamed him up.

Yeah, I don't remember TNG featuring dogs much. It was all about Spot. Meow!

What if it's revealed the dog is in fact Q clandestinely keeping an eye on Picard. Could be a nice twist to end the finale on. Picard goes to bed, the dog jumps on the bed and lays down at the foot of the bed. Picard turns the light out and goes to sleep. The dog then looks towards Picard's face and we hear it speak in John de Lancie's voice. "Bon nuit, mon capitaine."

Problem with that is that Q would absolutely not have the patience to pull off playing Picard's dog for more than 5 minutes. He's too fond of his own voice, attention grabbing antics, and rubbing it in.

We saw a kindler and gentler Q on VOY....well, somewhat.

So maybe the Continuum is forcing him to be the dog. They've done it before.

Q's have a different way to sense the passing of time. So it wouldn't be any trouble for him.

Older people like to get dogs as companions, especially if they're otherwise a bit lonely. And Picard - with his dislike of children - is most definitely more a "dog" type than a "cat" person.

But seriously, this is from previous poster:

Still believe it's just a cloud ;) :D

And I can't unsee it ever since I drew that.
