Picard Poster

That's not a Pit-bull.

That's Jean-Luc's lovely Olysan bride. Now don't be a specie-ist.

It's another transporter accident!

Ha Ha!

Another cannnon violation, Earth's moon is too big! (assuming that's what the giant circle is supposed to be)

As for the breed of dog, let's stop looking at things from today's knee-jerk viewpoints. Undoubtedly, the aggressiveness has been genetically engineered out of pitbulls by the 24th century. I assume the ban on genetic engineering wouldn't apply to lifeforms like dogs, cats, plants, etc. While the shortage of transhumanism in Trek has been lamented on occasion, perhaps there is still some possibility of showcasing transcaninism.

We've been "genetically engineering" dogs since they first became our companions by selectively breeding them. The taboo/laws against genetic manipulation in the Federation don't cover that.

Seriously though, fuck pitbulls. This doesn't ruin the show or anything, but as someone who got chased up a car by a pitbull (for no other reason then it saw me walking by) this will be the one show I watch where I'll be actively hoping to see the dog (by this I mean the fictional character, not the dog actor, obviously) get killed. Also, don't start that "its the owner, not the dog" BS. Pitbull's are predisposed to attacking people and other animals even if they are raised by loving owners who pamper them. Literally the worst dog species possible to choose for the show, unless Picard is supposed to be a villain.

Like I said, the dog is a non factor in my potential enjoyment of this show, which I'm still excited for, but its a bizarre and stupid choice.

So which breed are you actually talking about? There's multiple breeds that get lumped in together as a "pit bull" (I am not sure which breed is on the poster), but only one of those breeds was originally bred for fighting (American pit bull terrier), and then they were bred for fighting other dogs. The others have always been show breeds. Pit bulls in general were actually pretty popular a few decades ago. It wasn't until the attempt to stamp out dogfighting that people started to fear them.

Well, if the dog is indeed called Number One, I think we've already got ourselves a storyline...

Picard goes undercover deep into Cardassian territory to look for signs of Thomas Riker, so that his DNA could be used to restore the humanity of Will Riker, who was transformed into a dog in a freak transporter accident.

Dog!Riker will still be voiced by Jonathan Frakes. But because he's a dog, he'll only be able to bark. We'll be listening to Jonathan Frakes bark.

I can't wait for them to inevitably bring in Riker and then we have a scene where Picard says, "Come on Number One, time for walkies." and Riker looks at him like, "Well, it's finally time to send him to the Federation Funny Farm."

I'm hoping for "Aramis," the only one of the Musketeers whose name hasn't appeared in Trek in some form (that I'm aware of).

I was thinking of Musketeer names too. But I would be OK if it's named "Porthos". That is such a great name for a dog.

He single-handedly terraformed Remus so he could re-create his childhood chateau and vineyard and watch Romulus get blown up.
When he flies a shuttlecraft off the used shuttlecraft lot, it increases in value.
He bowls overhand.
He is... the most interesting man in Starfleet.
