Wow. Sixteen years after going off the air, even America sees the strength of the show as a useful tool in promoting other shows.

Other shows, that, you know, haven't been off the air for sixteen years.

Well, they are. One glance at the ratings for those two shows and you might feel desperate just by proxy.

Well TV is obviously about ratings at the root level.

And TNG, probably of all primetime sc-fi shows over the past 20 years or so, has had the best ratings. Of course, it was not the only good sci-fi show in that period. DS9, Voyager (well I liked it), and Stargate SG-1 were all high quality shows. But neither are ingrained into pop culture as TNG is. I probably is desperation, since they have no other avenue to turn to.

I think making and marketing low budget films is something they should continue though. I remember seeing about six months ago a film with giant worms in Afghanistan and that wasn't bad.

Chuckling at this, I really liked the SGU pilot(though I have problems sticking with non-Trek/BSG TV series) but find it funny/cool that once again The Next Generation is the more relevant programming here to attempt a save for SGU.

It' s interesting that Sci-Fi is choosing to air old shows to try and drum up an audience for a current one. I kinda follow the thinking but it seems kinda.....desperate.

SGU gets 3 seasons tops. I want to like the show, but all the characters could be tossed out an airlock with the exception of Rush and Eli as far as I'm concerned.

I like my Stargate a little lighter and campier. This just feels like they ripped off BSG, which I tried but absolutely hated.

Well, TNG seasons 4,5,6 have strong shows, that will bring in viewers. Throw in a borg or two, few season enders/openers and yea, people will watch and probably stick around for SGU.

FAIL. Scrap it, admit you did wrong, try again -- the general idea could have worked if not for the bad acting, lousy writing, stupid plots, etc.


If they really feel so desperate, hire RON JONES to score some episodes and give Joel some relief.

I think the biggest problem with SGU, for me, is its cast. Rush, Eli and Greer I found interesting to varying degrees, probably in that order. They really screwed up with everyone else, and that's just sad considering the strength of these actors.

People like Ming-Na are not a dime a dozen. They're good. Too bad their characters aren't.

It's not going to work for me.
I've banned the show from my viewing list until the Stargate Atlantis people show up and 'll open the door a little bit to see what's going down then shut t immediately afterwards...because I can barely stand watching all that bad writing and depressing scenery.

I've never seen her before but she just irratates the mess out of me in the SGU. Makes me wanna slap her. The womenare extremely useless in the stories, Objects of love and lust ALL OF THEM...it's crazy they don't have anything more interesting to give them but that.
