Spoilers Picard First Look Picture Gallery

I wonder if the handsome Romulan (?) directly behind /next to Dal is a Tal Shiar agent shadowing her.

It's interesting how many different versions of Romulans they show. Some look traditional (with romulan haircuts), others more like humans.

Some of the Romulans seem to have completely 'normal' heads, while others have a more prominent brow similar to ST09, but none of them have the TNG ridge.

But it is def the hair cut and eyebrows that give away that they're Romulan.

Is this the first we've seen Dahj in the red out fit that the prisoner's are wearing?

I believe that is Narek played by Harry Treadway. We've seen him and Dajh together in some of the trailer footage. It looks like he's with her at the place, maybe the Borg cube, where she's being held prisoner, possibly with the androids.

it's a little jarring to see buttons, zippers, even shoestrings, but i'm digging the costumes designs. the sweater budget must've been through the roof.

In pic #3 there appears to be a Romulan(?) standing off to the side monitoring the "prisoners". Perhaps lending some credence that Romulans control the cube.

The fact that all of the 24th Century Romulans (and Vulcans) had the same HORRIBLE hairpieces was arguably the worst stylistic design of those shows. Just friggin' awful.
If it was just Vulcans it would be OK. But that both civilisations would have retained the same cultural hairstyle over two millennia of divergence is blatantly absurd.

I wonder how much was design choice and how much was the ability to share wigs among background actors.

Kurtzman said something interesting about the look of the Klingons and Romulans (it's about a hypothetical return of Worf):

"So will Worf’s look on Picard more closely resemble Discovery‘s Klingons, then? “No, he’s got to look the same,” Kurtzman says. “We’re not changing that. It’s funny, because you’ll see by the time you get to [Picard‘s] third episode, there are different kinds of Romulans that look different, depending on their territories. You’ll see some Romulans that are just about the ears, you’ll see some with the ears and deeper ridges in their foreheads… so I have to believe that there are different iterations of Klingons, depending on where they are from.” (To be fair, Discovery did soften the look of its Klingons in Season 2 as well.)"
