Picard Autobiography Footnote Error

Per Data, French is an obscure language in the 24th century. Picard may have learned it natively, because his parents appear to be native Francophones by their accent, and his father in particular may have been a bit of a luddite, but that doesn't mean the other villagers in La Barre spoke it on a regular basis. Picard need not go to a British boarding school to pick up English, if it was already the majority language of mainland France for generations.

The accent is the thin edge of the wedge in terms of Picard being an anglophile despite also being written as very, very French.

The "very, very French" thing was mainly in the first season, where he was clumsily given a very Chekov-like nationalistic fervor about his homeland. I'm glad they dropped that aspect of his characterization.

Picard speaking English with an English accent is just fine.
But obviously French isn't spoken natively anymore by Picard's generation, because on the very few occasions when he actually speaks the French language, he also does so with an English accent!

My grandmother on my Mom's side was raised by my great-grandparents who spoke Polish.
She could speak English then turn around speak flawless Polish to her relatives/cousins.
