Picard and Ro...

Bryan Levy

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Just read the Picard and Ro goodbye scene in Avatar and it was kind of everything I wanted out of it? I loved being in Ro’s head for it and Picard acted exactly as he should have. It’s not first season jerk Picard, it’s post-Insurrection Picard (I think. Pretty sure.) I really liked it.

Yeah, it would be post-Insurrection. The Dominion War was still going on during Insurrection while in Avatar the war was over. And I agree, from what I recall it 'felt right.' I could see Ro being nervous, for whatever reason he always made her a bit nervous, and his not holding a grudge. Picard is wise enough by that time to take a look at a persons entire character and other extenuating circumstances.

I liked it how Picard handled Ro despite her defection to the Maquis. He always believed in her abilities and gave her a chance whereas the Admirals distrusted her. So she became Captain of DS9. Picard was always good at mentoring others. Like Wesley, Riker and so on.
