Picard and archaeology

Technically, as Picard mainly studied alien ancient cultures, wasn't he interested in exo-archaeology?

I'd say he was interested in any kind of archaeology, so I don't think the term exo would cover it, as that would discount anything based on Earth.

Alternatively alien cultures being the norm by the 24th century the term exo would no longer be special. So archaeology just covers it all, and Terran/Vulcan/etc is the normal description for race specific.
