I was disappointed they changed the 'Star Trek' font in the opening credits.
I'm still confused as to why the font they're using for "Star Trek" isn't the TNG font, or at least the TNG movie font. This is Picard, after all, a TNG character. This isn't the TOS era. But that's a nitpick.

Federation synths killing Romulan citizens. Good way to reopen old wounds.

Did they establish Romulans were on Mars during the attack? I don't recall that. I think if it was a Tal Shiar false flag, it would be more to destabilize to make certain that Starfleet look like the bad guy. Which they took the bait - hook, line and sinker.

I just think its the new branding. DS9 and Voyager utilized the TOS movie font. This is the whatever that font is era of Trek marketing. I do wish they would have kept the TOS series font though.

Thanks, I missed that. But sis still seems way past that. Maybe we'll get an explanation.
She was drinking wine in Boston which presumably puts her age over 21. Given the BS fast track and amazingly smartness people in Trek are gifted with, this would likely put her as a Postdoc level or professor level which, without knowing any more could be the same level as the sister, who may have chose to go into some professional role right right after finishing grad school. The enrolling line kind of muddles it. Maybe it's sloppy writing. Kind of like the horrendous sloppy writing on the CW where people stupidly get multiple Ph.D.s instead of just working on projects in new areas as a degreed scientist.

Why would the Tal Shiar want more more of their own people to die though?

I mean, it's possible, but it seems convoluted even for the Romulans.

Not at all. The Tal Shiar would not want the Federation rescue mission to succeed. If it succeeds, it means the Romulan government stays strong and would even become closer diplomatically with the Federation. The Tal Shiar wants to take advantage of the chaos and destruction of the supernova. Let it pretty much destroy the Romulan government so that the Tal Shiar can make a play for installing their own government and rebuilding the Romulan Empire to their liking. And of course, rule #1 in covert ops is always make sure that nothing can be traced back to you. The Tal Shiar could have "hacked" the synths to cause them to go rogue. Now the synths do their dirty work and the Federation bans synths and never knows that the Tal Shiar was behind the attack. I also think the Tal Shiar or some other Romulan group is in control of the Borg Cube reclamation site. They are probably experimenting with their own synths, hence why they needed to capture Dahj, experimenting with Borg tech or both.

A drinking age of 21 is pretty much a U.S.A. thing. There's no reason to think the Federation has it...or even United Earth. Plus it could be synthahol.

I think Dahj is younger than 21 (or 18-20 if you want) but made to appear in that age range. If Maddox disappeared in the mid-2380s, that might be around the time she and her sister were created, or shortly afterwards.

"You're under arrest, Picard!"

"Why? I've done nothing wrong."

"You were harboring a synthetic being, one who was suspected of a quadruple murder. You didn't report her to the authorities, making you a knowing accessory after the fact. And worst of all, you gave her wine when she was clearly only 20 years old. You're going away for a long time, old man!"

<cue epic fight scene consisting of Stewart ducking alot and catching his breath>

The actress, Isa Briones, is 21. Not to suggest that that means anything necessarily. Or synthehol. Or drinking age is lower. Or it really doesn't matter.

There is also no reason to really not think that the details in the show are placed their by writers based on their every day experiences. The Actress actually turned 21 last week. I can't really distinguish ages from 20-29 really, but a romantic evening at home with a boyfriend drinking some wine and discussing a big move tends to hint at not a teenager.

Edit. And By that I mean not Wesley 2.0 in addition to being Lal 2.0a

Yeah, she's probably closer to 10 than 20, but chalk-full of synthetic memories. If she doesn't age (which is unlikely) then that calls for a span of only a few years tops. Maddox made her based on the painting, so she wasn't created as a child or preteen.

I'll go with the character's human identity is supposed to be 21. Though the android is likely much younger.

Any one notice the Dahj (a character within a character is from Seattle), like Ash Tyler? Who on the writing staff is from Seattle?

No one. The writing staff, like most of humanity, clearly understands that Seattleites are never to be trusted.
