If TNG came out today Picard would be seen as a coward for running away from Q, which I think was even done in 1987 for being something Kirk would never do. They would go ballistic over having a American military uniform be insulted as a "costume." Wesley would not be manly enough and be called a soy boy. Tons of homophobic jokes for the guy wearing the skirt uniform.

I wonder if we will see the ruins of the burned down Barn that his brother and nephew died in?

Do you reckon if TNG came out today, people would complain about the Ferengi being hamfisted versions of Trump?

Any Ferengi whose name isn't Quark or Nog is ham-fisted in general. But, yeah, they probably would.

I think they could've back in 1987 too. The '80s were his heyday before The Apprentice gave him his comeback.

You know I never asked but are holodecks used on the show.?

Jason

Not that I recall, but we do meet a holographic person.

Does Picard meet any of the new characters (besides Dajh) in the first episode?

He does. Not all the cast are in this episode, however.

Why on Earth would he still have that, 25+ years later, too...?!

Thanks! If you don't mind a follow up to the question about the new cast, does he meet Cris Rios in the episode? Anything you can say about their first meeting? Thanks!

Rios is not in the first episode, no.

With a Borg Romulan connection going in, I wonder if Picard show related media (novels, comics) will bring back the idea (from the original Countdown) that the Narada in the Trek 2009 film was augmented with Borg tech.

I'll give him a pass on the slightly dodgy accent. It was cute. And besides, maybe the French accent has changed a little in 380 years due to the influence of English. After all, neither English nor French sounded like they do today 380 years ago in the 1600s.

I am more excited than ever reading the posts here in the last day or so!
