PIC S3 Ships & Tech

So.. They were going to refit the luna titan but decided to build a completely different ship.. With some internals the same.. And call it a refit? That like the Stargazzer from S2 being a "refit" to??

Some one needs to get these people a word of the day calendar.. With the definition of Refit .. On January 1st..

And now the Ent F is 19 years old and being decommissioned? Wth?

The Ent E rammed another ship and F'd the front quarter of the ship and was refit... What do you have to do to ship to get it decommissioned?

Some of these asinine details are going to just sour my viewing experience...

I would not have had a problem with Krause’s Titan had they used Aridas Sophia’s wider Ariel type saucer to show the scale up.

By the way, i think it would be great if the bridge of the G would be more in line with the one of the D than the E. Basically a more advanced version of the TNG bridge. Always loved this one the most!

I guarantee this is just the instagram covering for someone using the term refit wrong in the show. If they mention it used part of Riker's Titan I'll be very surprised. And the opposite happens in Discovery, She really is refit, but gets a letter anyway.

Im starting to think that the Enterprise F is just a "Hat Tip" to STO , letting them have the Oddessy class Enterprise F, but them wanting another class for "There Enterprise" that they would like to introduce, so they say the E was decommissioned a long time ago, and the F has be it for long enough to also be decommissioned. So now they can introduce there ship without any STO fan bru hah of them changing the F's Class. Which is Stupid.. Just use another ship, a show's main ship doesn't need to be Enterprise!

We have five Trek series running right now and only one has a hero ship named Enterprise. Given "Strange New Worlds" has not been renewed for a third year, there may be room after SNW wraps its second season for a new Enterprise-led show. I agree with your point that they want to acknowledge the E-F "for the fans", but if they want to go beyond "Picard" with a new Enterprise, a new ship class would make most sense (at the very least no new production would have to build the frankly cavernous Odyssey-class bridge!).

As it stands for fans, there were two "unknown" Enterprises between the Enterprise-A and -D, and THOSE fans had "only" twenty-one real-life years between the premieres of TOS and TNG. If anything post-Picard were to be launched aboard an Enterprise, the THIRTY-SIX-PLUS years between the premieres of TNG and whatever comes next would almost invite multiple Enterprises to fill in the real-life gap!

In any case, Enterprises tend to get into bigger scrapes than the average starship, so it stands to reason that the life expectancy of any ship bearing such an illustrious name would be relatively brief. And so they are - the original Connie lasted a whopping forty years by the time of her loss, and every subsequent ship (except MAYBE the Enterprise-B) has been a brief candle by comparison.

And speaking of the 32nd Century, there has been little discussion that most if not all of the Starfleet of 3189 should be composed of ships that are at least a century old, if not much older. They weren't DOING much during the era of the Burn besides sitting idle and keeping up a pretty lightshow for SFHQ, but they weren't in long term storage by any stretch. And to dovetail the above supposition, if there were an Enterprise active at the time of the Burn, then she'd almost certainly have had an active core going and as such been destroyed. The Starfleet of 3189 didn't seem to be in a hurry to build a new Enterprise (indeed, most of the personnel alive by that point would literally have only read about any Enterprise in a history book) but if and when they do, I'd say it'd be a new class of ship that would avoid the use of the rather poorly-received-overall designs we've seen so far, and symbolize the new era that Discovery is still ushering in.

I’d like to think that the last Enterprise, the one lost in the Burn, was the Kirk-class NCC-1701-P. P for Pike/Picard, like how Voyager-J is a meta-reference to Janeway. That means the next Enterprise would be the NCC-1701-Q, because Q always follows P(icard)!

Plenty of time for that.

First time I see that. Hope it’s the last.

It has red lights on the side and a shotgun-like pump action function

Surprisingly, we’ve skipped right over the entire career of the Enterprise-F! She’s almost twenty years old and Starfleet thinks her day is over following an incident which critically damaged her, and they’re sunsetting her as part of a fleet celebration event of some kind.

If this turns out to be the case, there will be riots in fandom. To give us the new Enterprise just to be getting rid of her at the same time? To h*ll with subverting expectations!

The Enterprise-C was depicted on its final mission but it was a memorable struggle. And the episode “Yesterday’s Enterprise” may be one of the ten most important episodes in Star Trek.

The Enterprise-B was the grand, new ship. Embarking on its hopeful mission. Also seen in an heroic struggle between hope and sacrifice.

J was confirmed as being the actual future in STO, for what it’s worth. In any timeline, this ship leads the Federation during the epochal battle against the Sphere Builders.

Whereas the F is a geriatric vessel that gets retired with nice fireworks?

It's all par for the course of PIC season 3. We get a new ship that looks like an old ship (Titan), an old ship that looks like a new ship (Aleos), a new Enterprise that's already being decommissioned (F), no sign of the ship that really should be the one getting decommissioned (E), and showrunners that can't make up their minds about what the definition of 'refit' means.

They said that there would be a lot of starship porn this season. So far it's been crappy '70's porn.
