I am totally confused about how you put images in forum avatars and sigs.

Just joined PB as photoVulcan and I haven't done much since then. There's an image that I have in my album borrowed from another member. I like this pic and I clicked "Save to my Album."

well if it shows up in your album, just copy the url code underneath it, and paste that in the avatar slot in your profile

or if it's not in your album yet, you can right click>save image as> then in photobucket upload to from your computer

or you can just right click>'copy image location'(in firefox) or in IE right click>properties>highlight the image location and copy it(ctrl+c)then upload from url in photobucket

photobucket offers code for displaying images in html, bbcode, and direct url links, as well as thumbnail code in html, and bbcode
they've also added a 'share link' that basically puts the image on a page with ads like imageshack does

you want to use the direct link for avatars

to post an image inline on a forum you'll use the IMG code, and the HTML code for ebay or other websites

to get thumbnail code for IMG and HTML click the checkbox next to the image, and click the button at the bottom of the page "Generate HTML and IMG code." I think it says . . .

No, this board doesn't allow any images in signatures. The request is brought up now and again but the decision is firm. Even though your image is small and unobtrusive (and I quite like it), I agree that sig images in general add too much clutter so I'm quite happy with the status quo.

Perhaps it was too big. the max pixel size is 120x120, and the max file size is 60 for an animated GIF, and 20k for a still pic.
