I'm using Imgur to host all my nerdy memes and graphics now. Fuck photobucket![]()
Also, don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network. If you do – and we will be the judge – or if you do anything illegal, in addition to any other legal rights we may have, we will ban you along with the site you're hotlinking from, delete all your images, report you to the authorities if necessary, and prevent you from viewing any images hosted on Imgur.com. We mean it.
What are people supposed to do? I thought there were all sorts of image hosting sites out there for the very purpose of posting on various fora around the 'net.
Are image hosting sites changing their mind now? Is it because of Facebook and the relatively low cost of storage now that most fora allow attaching files to their posts and Imgur and PB are simply not getting the advertising revenue that they once were, which before now prompted them to add more and more ads?

Other than the suggested sites an easy low cost solution would be to just use Amazon S3 (or another cloud storage provider of choice) and use a tool like Cyberduck (or anther client that supports S3) to easily upload / manage content in the S3 bucket. You could even splash out and get something like "Mountain Duck" and just have the S3 bucket mounted as a directory on your computer. Granted you will be paying for storage/bandwidth, but S3 (etc) are all very modest costs and no worries about a "free" site suddenly changing their minds. You can even link to the https version to avoid mixed security warnings. What are people supposed to do? Yep and it's no wonder why I've run into so many crap ads as of late.I think their major target is the free accounts, but why they're going after the lower-tier Plus accounts is something I can't fathom. Their "customer service" is utter crap, and their "help" links are years out of date.
I need to find a hosting service that will allow me to have private albums of things like smileys, icons, logos, banners and buttons for the forums I admin.
I've been going through my albums, and deciding what I don't actually need anymore and deleting it (less stuff to download/migrate to wherever I relocate to).
Changing everything for the Doctor Who forum is going to be a nightmare, since all the graphics are hosted on my Photobucket account (the reason why I've had a paid account for so many years).
Not sure if it's related, but I started noticing lots of broken photobucket images like last week or the week before.

If that's really what they are saying with that, then why do they feature BBCode links for forums like this one here under “Get share links”?But isn't this "third party hosting" expressly forbidden in the Imgur ToS?

It's apparently "just another way for us to show our appreciation for your continued support of Photobucket!"

The Smileys will be the worst thing. I don't mind so much that people will have to follow a link to see my old photos and stuff, but Smileys are no good if they're not right there.I need to find a hosting service that will allow me to have private albums of things like smileys, icons, logos, banners and buttons for the forums I admin.
Every time I upload something to Photobucket, I save a copy in my Online Storage folder. I've been doing that since AOL abruptly took away our storage space and I had to spend hours downloading everything in a big hurry.I've been going through my albums, and deciding what I don't actually need anymore and deleting it (less stuff to download/migrate to wherever I relocate to).
Some smiley artists only allow people to save their images if it's in a private album that's not open to the public. That's why I need a service that offers private albums. The Smileys will be the worst thing.
