Something fruity

Taken back in '09 or '10--what every flat surface of Mom's house looks like at Christmas: covered in candy!

From left to right: Rolos, chocolate covered almonds, Chinese pineapple treats, our family recipe for candied nuts (which everyone refers to as "candy crack") and homemade fudge from my late aunt's recipe. We always move the reindeer around so it looks like he's eyeballing the food.

Next: fine china/"fancy dishes."

Beans with minced pork and garlic

That looks soo good that I need to know how you made it!

I mean, I'm one of those that keep finger-snacking on the beans long after everyone has finished the meal itself... and anything that makes the beans the major part of the dish, well I just have to know how it's made...

So: recipe please!

Dunno about fine china, but this is a starter made with fiord-shrimp, quail eggs, bacon dust and fried rye-bread... made by the proffessional chef that is the younger sister of a friend of mine, for the (second or third) fourtieth birthday of hers.

Next up: A family gathering in the old days ~the days before digital photography.

heh, I didn't make it I bought it at a taiwanese place. But I can tell you how it's made. Those are snake beans and they are quick fried in hot oil (the are crispy on the outside and crunchy still on the inside). The minced pork is just that, cooked with spring onions and 5 spice and garlic. It's fairly dry, you eat this as a hot salad along side other dishes.

That meal looks delicious trekkiedane and are the shrimp from fjords! I didn't know there was such a thing, I thought they were only from warm waters! Also I love quail eggs! For some reason they are pretty cheap here.

Fine china refers to the plate, the dishes you serve food upon, not what's ON the plate.

Looks like nice plates to me, Teacake! I don't own any find china haha.

Response to TrekkieDane's prompt. These photos were not from digital camera, they were film.

A family gathering from when I was about 8 years old!
I'm in the pink and the dude is my older cousin.
My family pretty much all has blackish hair and really light skin lolol.

Another one for kicks. :)
I'm in the blue and the boy is my little cousin. If it weren't for dresses, I am pretty sure my boy-haircut would have caused a mistaken identity of my gender lol.

As we're on the subject of Home Towns, something you love about/miss from your home town.

Something I miss from my hometown (Albany, NY) is Thacher Park. I love the view. And it was a place of spiritual restoration once upon a time:

(A couple of others):

Next: Something manufactured.

Manufactured....well, that could be just about anything. Here's my monitor and keyboard, manufactured in a factory somewhere.

Next: something shiny
