Photo hunt

My homemade chili that I did this weekend, after a slightly modified recipe by tsq. I went easier on the spiciness. 'Cause I'm a pussy

Next: turtles.

My niece taking a picture of a turtle at Moody Gardens:

Next: something/place old-fashioned or antique

A coal scuttle (i use it to store candles, scented oils etc)

Next up - a gate

It looks delicious. Can I have the recipe?

I went easier on the spiciness. 'Cause I'm a pussy
I love spicy foods but Captrek is a pussy (your word, not mine) so I'll probably go easy on the spiciness for his sake and then add spices to my plate. I put El Tapatio hot sauce on almost everything.

Took me a bit of digging, but here's it is!

It is a haphazard dish, and everything can be changed according to taste, I often use a combination of canned, fresh, and frozen beans and veggies, but it's up to the chef. Here is how I do it:

-In a large pot, saute a white onion and 3 or 4 cloves of diced garlic in olive oil.
-Add a small can of sliced green chilis.
-Add a chopped chayote squash and chopped green beans, maybe green and red bell pepper (any fresh or frozen veggies, canned veggies later)
-Add freshly ground black peppercorns (it makes a difference!)
-When it's nice and browned and smelling yummy, pour in: 3-5 cans of beans (I usually do red beans, black beans, and sometimes chickpeas), 1 can diced tomatoes, 1 can corn, 1 can tomato paste, any other canned veggies you want.
-Add a dash of salt (more if your canned beans are unsalted or if you used dry beans), a splash of vinegar, a spoonful of sugar.
-Season to taste with: chili powder, cumin, crushed red pepper, cayenne pepper
-If you really want to wow them, though less diabetic friendly, add 1 bottle of beer.

Cook as long as possible over low heat. The leftovers just get better and better as they sit in the fridge.

What I did to make it fit my palette more was remove the sliced green chilis.

Sounds delicious. I don't think I have ever seen a can of chilis in my supermarket but I haven't ever looked for it.

A gate, people, a gate.

How about gate in front of the Space Shuttle simulator? Took one of the nieces to NASA this June.

NEXT: a statue of someone famous

I am not sure how famous he is outside of Australia, New Zealand or the Netherlands but this is a statue of Abel Tasman

Next up - a shell

That is correct. He was a 17th century Dutch explorer and was the first European to reach Tasmania and New Zealand and to sight Fiji.

No-one has photos of shells?

Because it has been a couple of days I will post a photo myself. This is of Shell House, Ballarat which is decorated with thousands of shells. Excuse the strange angle, I was attempting to take a photo to put in a diamond shaped photo frame someone had given me. This photo was taken 32 years ago.

Sorry to hear that you are having internet problem. Hopefully it will be corrected soon and you can post your photo.
