^The one thing that I don't like is how the nacelle struts cut-through the primary hall and into the dorsal-secondary hall. I'd rather have seen the nacelle struts connect at the bottom to the primary hall with another single neck-strut to connect the dorsal-secondary hall.

The "gay scene" - sick. Sorry, I'm not into gay porn.

James Cawley - He needs to quit trying to do Shatner impressions. His facial gestures and clipped speech make him sound like a comedian doing a poor imitation of "Shatner as Kirk."

Andy Bray - he nails Chekov perfectly. Easily the best actor of the Phase II cast.

Ron Boyd as DeSalle - Dork - (getting to be an overweight dork.) Enough said.

I caught a quick glimpse of a couple of hot looking extras. Finally some good looking women on this ship. Need more!

USS Copernicus - Love it! Nice TOS design.

The search party needs to learn proper weapon control, especially Peter Kirk. How many times did he sweep his crewmates with his phaser rifle and his finger on the trigger! He should be confined to his quarters for that alone.

Charles Root as Scotty - His accent needs work. Much work. It just doesn't sound natural.

The new Spock. Not bad. Slighty better than the previous actor I think.

Did anyone in this episode obey any of Kirk's orders???

Time has not been kind to Denise Crosby.

The sets and special effects - absolutely perfect! Creates the look and feel of TOS, a great job!

Looking forward to the rest of the episode!

Sick? SICK!?
Should I turn away in disgust each time a straight couple is shown in a similar scene in any other movie or TV-show. Would such scenes also be 'sick' in your mind?

And if that is your definition of porn...

James Cawley - He needs to quit trying to do Shatner impressions. His facial gestures and clipped speech make him sound like a comedian doing a poor imitation of "Shatner as Kirk."

This one scene were Cawley delivers this Shatner-impression was played for comedy - so that Bobby Rice (as Peter Kirk) could imitate him in a later scene.

Looking forward to the rest of the episode!

So long as no more 'gay porn' is shown, I gather?

As to the Copernicus, it's a meh design.

Funny, though: it's "pod" is shaped like a hand phaser!

I'm surprised there's not more love for the Copernicus. I always thought it would be nice to set a TOS-Era Trek series aboard a "back-dated" Reliant; give the old ship a little history.

If it sickens you, then yes.

Would such scenes also be 'sick' in your mind?

No.

Yes, the "gayness" was over done in my opinion. It's as if they wanted to focus on it. "Lookie, lookie everyone! We are doing a gay scene! We are continuing to talk about the gay couple even in the middle of a crisis! You must accept them!"

They could have been more subtle about it and probably gotten their "message" across better.

On another note, Captain Kirk was just too weak in this episode. In the scene where he has his new short sleeved shirt, it really emphasized what skinny arms James Cawley has, making him look like a teenager instead of a tough starship captain.

As I said before, just about everyone disobeyed his orders. Even when he gave Chekov orders to set a course, Chekov didn't even acknowledge it. No "Yes Keptin" or "course laid in Keptin" just complete silence.

McCoy in the sickbay scenes was bitching too much. Almost like he was trying to hard to bitch.

Did I say DeSalle was a dork?

What happened to Sulu in this episode?

And why not, if I may ask?

Sooo unlike Kirk who talked about his relationship with Carol Markus 'in the middle of a crisis' in TWOK.

Oh, and what would have been the appropriate level of 'gayness'? None at all, I guess?

Let's not turn this into a straight/gay arguement.
The argument made was that the scene was too long, especially for a guest star and a glorified ND. If I was watching the scene as is with my kids, it would be uncomfortable, gay or straight. It's agenda pushing... but, I promised David I would wait for part two to see WHY this scene was so important. If I think after seeing part 2 that it was still gratuitously too long, I will come back and say so, if I feel it was important, I will say that too.

It still don't see how That Scene (tm) is any more explicit than anything we've seen done onscreen in any other aired version of ST.

The "gay scene" - sick. Sorry, I'm not into gay porn.

Neither am I. Fortunately, I didn't see any of that in this episode.

So two guys seem to love each other and it's SICK, SICK!, but you're lusting after "hot looking extras".

As the ever so imitable Mr. Spock would say, "I find that fascinating".

You haven't seen the other New Voyages-episodes?
Too long scenes for the guest characters is typical for them.

Don't kid yourself. You wouldn't.

It's agenda pushing...

Only if affection between two people in love can be called an 'agenda'.

Damn! I was too ticked off about the 'sick' comment that I didn't even notice that.
Thanks for pointing that out :techman:

Now, off you go hunting Wombats :D ;)

While I did not care for the "gay scene" I think it is going way over the top to call it porn. What I would like to see more of in the series is some action, in TOS Kirk seemed to get into a fight every other episode. Except for a fight with Sulu in the last ep. I don't remember seeing Cawley's Kirk doing any fighting. I want to see a fight seen where it is clearly a stunt man in one shot and then back to Cawley as Kirk, just like they did with Shatner in TOS.
