Petition: Seven of Nine Spinoff

I will be scrutinizing every action, word and facial gesture… right down to blinks and lip puckers. They had better get some good actors for this show. Hopefully they can do a good sound track too and make it Voyager/DS9 like but even more epic… kind of a bit like Dark Frontier and Scorpion so we get goosebumps! :adore:

GFR have a... questionable reliability, so I wouldn't get your hopes up too much.

However, they did seemingly report that Lower Decks characters would be appearing as live action in SNW quite a bit before it was officially announced, so there is that...

GFR is a clickbait site that posts articles about what people want to hear. They are rarely correct. Not trying to burst your bubble; just stating the truth.
But maybe it’s the same source who gave the SNW spoilers?

I don’t think that they want to announce a Seven of Nine spin-off too early though as it will spoil some of Picard season 3 a little bit. They might announce it mid way through or at the end of Picard season 3. :D

Instead of a spin-off that's centered arround one single charakter, i would prefer a Series with Worf as Captain and Seven as the XO. Because of SNW the Ships will probably not be an Enterprise so the Titan is logical. Would be an interesting combination.

After what happened with PIC, I do hope SH realizes that story and supporting cast are as important as the lead character/actor and put a bit more thought and care into any future spotlight series.

I agree, it shouldn’t be a Seven of Nine only show, it should be an ensemble like TNG, Voy and DS9 with her as the Captain.

If they do an ensemble (not my preference but I'll grant it is a possibility) it should be an entirely new crew, with Seven as the captain. No legacy characters, save in guest roles.

Hmm. Well, there can be just nine main characters, including Seven herself. So...seven of nine. Her own personal collective! Finally!

That is *too* perfect not to use. Love it! :adore:

New family meaning for her once ‘cold’ numerical designation. :bolian:

Water! Water!

Michael Dorn has done TNG, four seasons of DS9, four TNG feature films, PLUS one season of Picard!

Give the man a break already! :(

Who knew Laris would last three seasons?

Who knew Laris would last three seasons?

She lasted because season 2 used her as basically nothing more than a two episode romantic plot device for Jean-Luc, and I expect for season 3 to do the exact same for one episode before dropping her completely for the rest of the season. So, she didn't last because they gave her a lot to do or wanted to give her more backstory and scenes and let her stand on her own (which would have been the way to go since she was clearly and rightfully a fan favorite after season 1) - she lasted because for some reason she was the only one the show could come up with as a love interest for Jean-Luc even though Q was right there and frankly, even if I WASN'T into Picard/Q I would still say the romantic tension between Jean-Luc and Q was about a zillion times more believable and intense than anything he had going on with Laris. I wish they'd kept her as a buddy for Jean-Luc and had given her all the scenes he had with Not!Laris (which did seem to be their original plan from what Matalas has said) and had developed her character more in the process and had then made Q the love interest because of course Q would put Jean-Luc through emotional hell first to make sure he's ready for Q's final emotional love admission before Q dies. This would have been SUCH a perfect Q thing to do.

tl; dr: Laris didn't last because "we want to give this fan favorite character a proper storyline", she lasted because "this is a potential love interest for Picard so we're keeping her around for now".

The show already has ONE gay relationship (Seven/Raffi).

The producers may have thought Picard/Q was too much (especially now that Beverly is coming back in S3).

I don't get why Crusher's return is treated like some kind of nuke-like device to all other romantic JLP relationships, but that might just be me; I've never found the whole Crusher thing anything other than a boring and tiresome cliché.

And I'm not saying Jean-Luc and Q would have ended happily ever after, because that wouldn't be in-character either. I just wanted the on-screen acknowledgement of the whole "Q loves Picard" angle that literally everyone (actors, producers, etc.) kept pushing in pre-season interviews and that then ultimately ended up being "you matter to me" instead of "I love you". Why not let Q say it? This alone doesn't suddenly create a "gay relationship".

While I do appreciate the Seven and Raffi angle and am happy for all the shippers I also don't think this automatically absolves the PIC team from featuring other lgbt+ representation at the same time. I'm still waiting for them to finally have an openly lgbt+ lead character on Trek. They're STILL shying away from that. If they make that Seven-as-main-character show, we would finally have that. One more reason to want that show, I guess.

JLP/Beverly/Q would've made for quite a love triangle. ;)
