Petition: Seven of Nine Spinoff

Aaaand already we get guff from the usual suspects (taking the completely wrong lessions from the weakpoints and strongpoints from Picard and what makes Strange New Worlds a smash hit) and seem resistant to the idea of Seven Of Nine spin-off (stating Picard is supposedly the worst rated show, when in actual fact it's fairly solidly reviewed like Lower Decks, if you ignore the artificial ballot stuffing in the audience ratings).

Why must it be either/or?

Why can't we have Seven, Raffi, AND a ship (Stargazer?)

There's room enough for BOTH to co-exist.

This desire to go back to pre-2005 Trek says something about the people making these arguments. They want a universe where all intractable problems are resolved over the course of a two-part episode and the worst thing anyone has to worry about is Troi being turned into a cake.

Seven will probably never be fully Starfleet, but she have a new Fenris Ranger ship.

Since the show brought it up, I'd like to see Seven in Starfleet.

She's not the same person she was twenty years ago. Settling down with Raffi as her XO may well be appealing for her. :)

Well it wouldn’t just be Seven and Raffi, that would be boring. It would have a crew and a starship of course.

Forget the Stargazer… we want the Enterprise!!!! Seven and her heroic crew, with a few familiar faces from previous series perhaps. Maybe Raffi could be a part of that crew, though I don’t think that a relationship is professional on the bridge of a starship, especially the Federation’s flagship.
I don’t think that people are interested in a Seven of Nine spin off series though, it doesn’t seem to be getting much interest online. The demand might not be there.

Ah well, I will enjoy Seven of Nine in what could possibly be her final appearance in Picard season 3. There is soooo much potential for this character though, but if there is no demand for a Seven of Nine spin off show then I guess that it would not be financially viable as neither Prime or Netflix would want to buy it.

If there was to be a Seven of Nine spin off, I think that they should make it an international production, filmed all over the world for location shooting… Thailand, China, Wales, Scotland, Jordan, New Zealand, Brazil, Africa, Europe… Spend the money on impressive location shooting for alien planets in each episode in exotic and varied locations instead of green screen effects!!!! This could be EPIC and attract an international market!!!! The Lord of the Rings of Star Trek! Everything before it can be catagorised as Star Trek: The Hobbit! Star Trek is not just an American show any more, let’s film it everywhere!!! Go team Seven! I think that we should nickname Seven of Nine fans as ‘Niner’s’ haha! We can merge in to a collective with the DS9 ‘Niner’s’! :D

Please, not Enterprise.

It's too big and too visible for someone with Seven's shady past. She's better off on Stargazer.

The petition is only a few weeks old. I've seen posts on Twitter asking for a Seven show that have garnered THOUSANDS of likes (Yours Truly has duly forwarded them to P+ and TPTB).

I'm assuming the show will air on Paramount+.

Paramount is pulling its stuff off Netflix and Prime (Their Star Trek stuff is now on P+. The CW just cancelled half its schedule after it pulled its shows off Netflix. Charmed, Dynasty, Naomi, Batwoman -- all gone.)

It wouldn't be practical (Covid safety protocols?)

China is now back on Covid lockdown.

A couple of my favorite globetrotting travel shows on PBS have yet to come back from Covid lockdown (others that HAVE come back are either staying put in the US or they're cutting back on the number of episodes).

If a new series deals with the new Borg, Seven of Nine’s ship might just need to be big and visible, regardless of her bandit past, especially if she was to play a prominent role in galactic events as a result and need the might of Starfleet and the UFP behind her.

COVID and lockdowns won’t last forever, I think we are almost at the light at the end of the transwarp conduit so to speak. Travel restrictions will be over soon hopefully and what better way to promote international tourism and post COVID international social ‘reunification’ again than filming a ‘prestige’ Star Trek show on an international level.

Paramount Plus need more than a regular Star Trek show to take them forward internationally… they need something both Star Trek *and* international! :p

Maybe Elon Musk can give up on trying to buy Twitter and buy Star Trek instead to fund this?? Or maybe he can buy Star Trek and ask for Twitter to be thrown in for good measure to seal the deal? It could be streamed on Twitter in micro tweet episodes!! :D

Please don't feed the trolls.

They're still waiting for Seth MacFarlane to ride to the rescue, buy the franchise, and fire Alex Kurtzman (AGAIN  ):

Now we have this monkeypox business to worry about. :(

Whoever wrote this article needs their imagination sparking with some inspirational ideas. A Seven of Nine spin-off, or any Star Trek spin off at all for that matter, could be amazingly epic and take the franchise forward in to the 25th century. Have a look at my idea in this thread here for instance (currently the last reply in the thread). I’m sure that other people have ideas for a Seven of Nine spin off series which are even better than this; feel free to link to them here and share them with us if you find any good ideas as I would love to read them! My ‘fan fiction’ idea is all a bit fanw*nky and it would take *really* good script writers to envision, Star Trek just might not be able to attract that calibre of writer to the franchise, they are probably all writing for the Lord of the Rings or Star Wars television shows instead. :D

You're preaching to the choir! :guffaw:

I've written some Captain Hansen (!) stuff on AO3.org.

^^^
I’ll have a read over the weekend with a cup of tea!! :D

Seven would definitely need to be called Captain Hansen I think, she couldn’t be called ‘Captain Seven of Nine’ as much as I would want for her to be called that! :guffaw:

Captain Hansen’s first officer can call her Seven just like how Chakotay used to call Janeway ‘Kathryn’ every now and again, and how Raffi always called Picard ‘JL’.

Seven of Nine’s close friends can also call her Seven, as can the Borg Queen. :bolian:

I worked for Redshirts Always Die for a hot minute in 2015. I'm glad it didn't work out, because I'd be laughing at half my speculation over the years by now. And I get the feeling they'd have tried to make me tone down my Pro-DSC, Anti-Berman stances.

They're going to have legacy sets left over from Picard. It wouldn't be NEARLY as expensive to film as Picard.

Jean-Luc established the beachhead. Seven can bring up the rear.

I have faith that CBS still prefers to reuse sets (NCIS Hawai'i was created to reuse sets that were left over from Alex Kurtzman's cancelled Hawaii Five-O reboot. Magnum P.I. was created back in the 80's to reuse sets that were left over from the original Hawaii Five-O, which had gone off the air the previous year.)

There's still the question of what's going to take Picard's place once the show leaves the air?

Archer, Kirk, Burnham, Janeway ... They're all such goody-goodys that they need "mirror" versions of themselves to give them "dark sides".

Seven's dark side is baked in. She doesn't NEED an evil "mirror" version of herself. She's wrestling with the monster that is already within her!

I like a Seven and Raffi show just fine, but why Starfleet?
Why not something more along the lines of, say, Firefly? Which Picard S1 kinda was, some to think of it.

Seven would definitely be unique among Starfleet officers.

She's not Kirk, Picard, or Janeway. She's not a paragon of virtue. How does she reconcile her history with Starfleet?

It's ripe for evolution (this is to say nothing of her relationship with Raffi).

ETA: There's also Seven's split personality. We've seen Seven the Machine make an appearance this season. (That scene in "Stargazer" where she yells at Picard? That was the Machine.)

Hmmm....yeah, that could work.

Do we have a problem with Raffi, though? I'm honestly not at all clear about how Starfleet feels about fraternization. Much looser than current policy, to be sure.

I don't know.

I trust they'll resolve it somehow.

The Prodigy producers have dialed Janeway and Chakotay's relationship back to "Kirk/Spock like". Surely Seven has learned SOMETHING from her mentor Janeway.

I think that having Raffi on the bridge would be unprofessional and might make other crew members feel uncomfortable to some extent, even if they do not show it out of respect. I think that perhaps Raffi could have a role in the series, though maybe she is assigned elsewhere? Raffi could be Captain of the Stargazer and Seven could be Captain of the Enterprise… the Stargazer and Raffi could be important recurring characters. Occasionally, the Stargazer and the Enterprise can take part in epic space battles together, fighting side by side! :adore:
