Petition Alert. No More Star Trek Time Travel Stories!

We had a couple of time travel stories in TOS and TNG. That was fine. Voyager and DS9 did it too. That's okay. ST:TVH was fun. ST:FC was okay, but now things are starting to annoy me. Then comes ST:E that goes nuts with time travel related crap.

I am sick of Star Trek using time travel in their stories.

Please. Let's stop the insanity before they go ahead with this! I want to see the next movie so badly- but if it's a time travel story in any way, I'll be forced to wait until it comes out on DVD.

No More TIME TRAVEL!

You do realise the second option on your poll doesnt make the slightest bit of sense, don't you?

Bloody Hell, Man, that option is a joke. It further emphasises my passion for this topic.

As I said someplace else. It is unfair to bind the hands of new production teams involving Star Trek and Time Traveltm, just cause the previous lot might have over did it. No reason to assume the results will be the same.

Basically this assertion implies, no one ever involved with Trek should make a time travel story ever. Why should we ask newer producers to respect such a restriction? We shouldn't.

Well, it wouldnt be my plot device of choice.

But it has worked pretty well in the past.

I agree. It has worked. But it's given people an option to change the Star Trek universe by using the excuse that the time line was changed during time travel stories. I go by the Dr. Who premise, that time travel didn't change anything, they were just part of the history that already exits.

And Star Trek Enterprise over used time travel to the point that I hate it now. It's become a plot cop out device.

Must I even mention, this isn't Dr Who and time is most certainly malleable in the Trekverse. Unless of course you think all the humback whales are still dead in the 24th Century.

Bringing another franchise into this discussion will lead to confusion.

I think people are sick of the way time travel has been used because its use in recent Trek has been so uncreative. As though just using time travel were enough to qualify as a story in and of itself. B&B and their ilk forgot that it's a device to be used to serve a story, not serve as a story.

If this movie keeps that in mind, I don't have a problem with a time travel plot in the least.

This poll can F off. Seriously.

This poll's creator has acknowledged that it's at joke at least in part. Whereas your recent poll is a joke entirely. You just didn't have the decency to admit it. Might want to cut the guy some slack. While you're at it you might want to work on crafting a reply that isn't geared solely towards either pissing people off or ignoring the topic at hand.

There has been only one other Trek film that involved time travel (First Contact), and that was one of the best ones ever. So I don't really see the big deal here.

Time Travel is an integral part of Trek and may other Scifi franchises. Asking for NO Time Travel is akin to asking for no space travel or meeting new aliens. To me its just as much a part of Trek as the space travel. I really dont see the big deal fans make over it.

Time travel is merely a plot device. Saying it should be baned is silly. Both TVH and FC used time travel as plot devices, but other then that the movies have little in common.

Oh yeah, forgot about TVH. My bad.

The fact remains, though: Time travel produced some of Trek's finest moments on film. So why just dismiss it out of hand?

I love time travel. There should be more of it in all Star Trek. In fact, I'm going to invent a time machine so I can travel back into the past and re-write all the scripts for every Star Trek episode or movie or book or comic to include some time travel in it. Time travel rules!
