Peter Lauritson?

I see Peter Lauritson's name in the opening credits of the majority of Star Trek episodes, but I have no idea what his actual role was behind the scenes. Did he just sign checks, or did he have some more creative role to play in the franchise? What are people's opinions of his work?

He was pretty much Berman's right hand for a long while. He was the guy who convinced Paramount to do all the post work on tape instead of film when TNG started. I interviewed him once about GENERATIONS and while he was very informative, it was completely 'company guy' throughout.

I think he would go to scoring sessions that Berman missed, to make sure that the composers didn't do anything too interesting. CFQ mags on TNG probably address this and more.
