Peter Falk passes away at age 83

Not long ago I read that he was suffering from Alzheimers for the past four or five years. I kinda expected this news. Sad.

Now everyone go watch "The In-laws".

I read this too, such a diverse actor, from Columbo and The Great Race.

Just another incentive to finally get Columbo on dvd - it's not too many people who you saw take down Kirk, Spock and Number Six!

He will be truly missed.

i like the columbo series - perfect for a raining day tv viewing. At least i imagine they will be on reruns now for a bit :-)

R.I.P Peter

This is sad news. Falk was a legend. Columbo was one of the great TV characters of all time, thanks to him.

I can't believe it's been over eight years since the last Columbo movie, "Columbo Loves the Nightlife." Still, I'm glad they went out with that one, a reasonably strong and satisfying installment, rather than the preceding "Murder with Too Many Notes," which was an incoherent mess (despite being written and directed by Patrick McGoohan, who apparently returned to the well one time too many). I occasionally hoped we could get another one before this day inevitably came, but apparently it's been too late for several years, as Falk's condition worsened.

And I don't care what that badge signature says -- Peter Falk insisted that Columbo's first name is "Lieutenant," and I'm not going to argue with him, particularly not today.

I wonder if the LAPD will hold some kind of service in honor of Falk and Columbo. Or would we rather imagine that Columbo lives on and will continue catching overconfident, smug, upper-class killers with no sign of slowing down?

Sad news. :( I have so many fond memories of Falk's performances, from The Great Race to The In-Laws and more.

And just yesterday, I was talking about one of the worst of the Twilight Zone episodes, where he plays a Castro type who overthrows a dictator and then is undone by a haunted mirror that shows "the future" and makes him paranoid. Falk was okay, but man his co-stars were chewing the scenery something awful. Bet that was a fun shoot. :rommie:

I think I'll go rent Murder by Death now. That was a great one. :D

This is terrible news. I love Columbo, I have all the DVDs, and The In-Laws is also one of my favorite films. Peter Falk was an awesome talent, and he will be missed. Thank you for all the hours of entertainment Mr. Falk, and RIP. I feel like a friend has passed.

Knowing that he was suffering from Alzheimer's, this almost comes as a relief, but it's still heartbreaking. He was a one-of-a-kind actor and he owned Columbo-- nobody else will ever match him.

I just recently finished watching the episodes that have been released so far; there's not many left.

RIP, Lieutenant. :(

Lister: Who's Columbo?
Rimmer: The man with the dirty mac who discovered America.
:D

Yep, he even gets a shout out in the UK.

I remember thinking for years he was the wizard Avatar in Wizards. Of course it wasn't him, but I was actually disappointed it wasn't. Would've been a fitting role for him to voice.

R.I.P. to the most memorable 70's TV detective, maybe of all time.

Fuck. :(

I will be wearing my "Just one more thing..." t-shirt all day tomorrow.

RIP.

I got into Colombo in the past couple of years. Classic character made by a wonderful actor.
