Personal Sonic Screwdriver?

A question to the people who have this kit. Does the 11th's screwdriver head expand like this sscrewdriver?

Yes.
You must be talking about the earlier individually sold 11th Doctor's sonic toy. The disassembled one included in the Personal Sonic Screwdriver set does not feature an expandable head, though.
Oh, d'oh, your right. In the kit, it doesnt open. Sadly. How hard would that have really been eh?

Well, considering the opening part is split into two sections in the build-your-own version.
Yeah, you would need that component to be whole to pull that function off.

Does it have different colored lights, or is it just the one option of green?
The 11th Doctor's sonic head module light is green, but the two other new ones are blue and a greenish-yellow respectively. It is possible to combine different head and middle modules to produce sonics with two different colors when activated.

It's here! And a day earlier than Whona said it would be ... Time Travelers, what can ya do? Anyway, I *love* this bit from the instructions on the back of the package. And this has to be intentional.

Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity.

LMAO!

Just bought mine as well from a local shop. Still deciding which parts to use...

Definitely the yellowish orb head bit, and the black bumpy grip, but middle and end cap..... hrm...

That's what I'm using too ... with the steampunk middle, and silver end cap.

Have you figured out how to do the "hidden" sounds?

There's only one control button. Tap it quickly twice then hold it down. Different sound. Tap it quickly three times then hold it down. Another different sound. I've done it up through quickly tapping 10 times and there's a different sound each time.

One note - The sounds are coming from that little power pack, so it doesn't matter which combination outside you're using, the sounds are all the same.

I ended up using the silver/blue middle, and the coppery ringed end, to match the emitter.

Which leaves me with a fully built non functional 11th screwdriver, and one that looks very much like the older 4th doctors sonic.

There was a brief time, however, when I first got the kit that I thought one of the three light-up head components didn't fit very well and would always pop off easily, but once I learned how it locked tightly into place, it was all good.

Just discovered how to actually place in the emitter correctly this morning. It is a little counter intuitive. But once its in, its IN.

QFT. The module I thought was the weakest bit is anything but now.

Like most things, this kit won't please everyone, but I think it's cool if you just want to have a sonic that's different from the ones we've seen in the show. With several dozen different combos possible, you can change it again and again whenever you want or just settle on a particular combo that you like the most.

I think the worst part is the emitter of the silver type, if it had either been like 9/10's, or instead of having an aimed emitter, just had a blue clear ball at the end, it would have been the winner for emitters.

I think that emitter is very much like the one used by the Third Doctor (and to a lesser extent by the Fourth and Fifth Doctors) in which it wasn't aimed at things like a gun but rather like a staff:

Oh im familiar with the style, never liked it compared to the modern ones. It was a shame that with this set, none of 10's sonic was included in the set.

The silver & blue one strikes me as a mashup of 3/4's and 9/10's sonics, with a dash of Cyberman tech tossed in for jollies.
