Recently watched The Abyss again. And the CPR scene is just so amazingly well done (not in a realistic way, but in a dramatic one). So intense. In my opinion, every other attempt at doing another “reanimated in the last second“ scene in books or film is just a waste of time, because the drama just can't be topped.
Also: Smaug of the 2nd Hobbit film. I thought it was the ultimate dragon. The culmination of dragon designs for film. Future films trying to do yet another dragon... just forget it, why bother?
In general, LotR and the Hobbit films should never be remade. The kind of dedication and effort put into them just cannot be surpassed. Surely, some mishaps here and there could be corrected, but that's just it.
What else? Nolan's Batman approach was, to me, the perfect Batman version. It hit all the marks I always wanted to see hit. I am not interested in other interpretations any more.
What are your favorite scenes, elements, characters, etc... of films and shows where you think any further attempt is just a waste of time because it will be inferior?
