Percy Jackson And The Olympians Sequel will be made

Hmm, with the revelations of The Heroes Of Olympus and now the introduction of an Egyptian Pantheon via The Kane Chronicles...

I'm starting to sense a major undertaking on the horizon for Riordan.

Cool.

To be honest, the movie is pretty bad...

However, it's nice to have some visualizations already in place to enhance a cold read every once and awhile.

(For instance, I saw Harry Potter & The Philosopher's Stone before I'd read the first book, but ended up finishing each subsequent book in the series before I'd seen it's respective film.)

The first movie was enjoyable but nothing new. I'm glad they are making a sequel but there is no way this will be a long running series.

^Maybe the movie was enjoyable for you, (I'm guessing you didn't read the book it's based on) but for me it was around 2 hours of "what could've been".

And yeah you're probably right that the film series won't complete all 10 books as films.

In my case, I bought the movie and book together, and well, the movie was kind of passable.

Then I read the book and was surprised at the amount of changes that were made. I knew beforehand that the characters' ages were increased for the movie, but I was surprised how much of the plot was murked with.

That and the changes to Hades' realm to fit a more traditional view of the Underworld.

Other than the similarity of title, [Insert Name] & The [Insert Adventure], they don't really have much if anything in common.

Nope never read the books, but I always take the book and movie for completely different things. Just look at the Bourne series, the only thing in common the book has with the movie is the name.

^Fair point.

But even taking the movie just by itself, it was fairly lackluster. All in all, I was hoping for more, and I probably won't see the sequel unless I hear something positive.

I haven't read any of the books but I liked the movie. It's certainly nowhere near the level of Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings. But I certainly thought it was more deserving of a sequel than Twilight (as irredeemably bad and incompetant as Batman & Robin but without the campy fun) or those tedious Narnia films (psst! The lion is Jesus!).

So what's the premise of these new Heroes of Olympus books?

And when do they get to the part where Apollo flees to Pollux IV?

I was hoping for a movie that I could finish watching (I had no hopes) so this works well.
