Peak's Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home Poster Art

Now if only I had an extra $24k - $80k laying around.

The original artwork for Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home one-sheet theatrical poster by Bob Peak—who did the poster art for ST:TMP through STV:TFF—is up for auction for the next three weeks.

Bob Peak was a legend in the industry, and was responsible for the poster artwork for numerous other iconic movies beyond the Star Trek ones he did. With such titles as Apocalypse Now, Excalibur, Rollerball, The Spy Who Loved Me, and many more.

Personally, this one and the TMP poster were the best of the series in my opinion.

Shame about the screwy location of the Golden Gate Bridge relative to the Financial District, though.

If that part of the artwork was flipped horizontally it would be a lot more accurate to the geography of San Francisco, though it would still be taking some artistic license. Of course that is somewhat the point, this is artwork, not a map of San Francisco. (wry grin)

Regardless, it's a beautiful piece on aesthetic grounds, at least to my designer's eye.
