Interesting.. I was a fan of Mad About You for a while, but lost track of it when Paul and Jamie started having their marital troubles.. It got grating for me... The ending was horrible, IMHO...
But I've kinda always enjoyed his comedy stylings, so I'll give it a go...

I like Paul Reiser's stand up, so I'll give it a try.
I think you forgot they were thinking about replacing Seinfeld for a 10th season of the show. The only reason they didn't look more into that is once the rumours started leaking the other actors went "we are leaving too".

It would have been a disaster. Probably why the rest of the cast decided (or decided again) to call it quits.

Oh boy did I used to despise this guy and that sitcom he was on. He was terrible. Not funny. A blight on the 80's. Completely derivative. But credit where it's due, he had one of the more hilarious turns in a great movie --Aliens. His emoting was side splitting.
i don't think i'll be watching his new show.
I love Mad about you and occasionally put it on to have a few laughs.. the perfect depiction of the 90s.
I also love Reiser's style of humor and comedy.. pretty subtle and natural. No distorted faces, pratfalls of slapstick comedy.. just the absurdity of life.
Will definitely check out the new show and see if he's stayed this good as he was on Mad about you.

Conversely, the absence of Helen Hunt (who was cute as a button in the beginning of Mad About You but deteriorated into a shrewish caricature by the end) is the one thing that makes me consider watching this show. Ain't it funny how life works?

it was ok. The funniest thing was Larry David.... talking about how Paul should do a show like Curb your Enthusiasm.

^^ I meant to check this out as well, and if Larry David stops by, so much the better. I didn't mind Mad About You, it wasn't my favorite, but it did have some fun moments. I also like Reiser's stand-up, so I'll have to check this out.
