Patterns of Force Preview Up !

Well i think Okuda did say in a recent AICN interview that the missle attack was remastered, so we will have to check that out.

Yeah, other the usual approach, orbit and departure scenes and the missile scene I can't think of too much else that could be worked on.

Why remaster when this episode had plasma HDTV screens in it already? The viewscreens on Ekos are so close in appearance, size and dimensions to the modern plasma television it's downright scary.

I've recently rewatched this episode on DVD and the thing that struck me most was how bad the fake blood on the back and shoulders of Kirk and Spock looked. It's unfortunate something couldn't be done to make that look better. As technology improves and becomes cheaper this might be done in 10 years in TOS-R2.

Perhaps a V2 being launched?

Yep. However, I suspect that the multi-stage A11 or A12 conceptual designs by the Peenemünde Rocket Team (

) would have been a slightly more appropriate choice for an Ekosian space intercept vehicle capable of interplanetary missions than the A4/V2.

Who wants to lay odds on there being a Trek/Hogan's Heroes parody this week on TrekMovie.com?

A shot of the Ekosian fleet in orbit as the Enterprise leaves? Maybe a half-dozen ships something like this.

Another episode without much to remaster? The drool on John Gill's chin? Perhaps a V2 being launched?

Well, the nuclear missile fired from Ekos at the Enterprise will be changed to look better and have a more realistic explosion/detonation, and I'd LIKE to see some of the grainier WWII stock footage of Nazi crowds and that V2 changed or tweaked...because a V2 rocket similar to those used on Earth would NEVER be able to reach interplanetary space and home in on an approaching space vessel.

I'm sure this was due to the 1960's censorship practices. You know, "...the green blood on Spock's back must not be so prominent as so to upset our gentle viewership"...

Yeah, let's see some "Passion of the Christ"-style whippin'!! Yee-haw!

Kidding.

Actually, showing a few of the 'invasion ships' in orbit may not be a bad idea. They wouldn't be much different in designs from the initial missiles anyway... granted, at the 'departure point' of the episode, most of the ships are already far en route and may not be in orbit any more to actually SEE.

Did seem like a few of the 'outdoor' shots seemed busier than I remember, though.

I think something like this shot from TGT's link to the Man Conquerers Space site would be near perfect. A shot like that would certainly be more worthy of the CGI effects team's time than the little spray of debris they felt obliged to stick into "Errand of Mercy".

Amen.

Man, I can't wait for this (MCS) to be done!

Back OT, at least we get to see Daras in her full HD glory - one of Trek's hotter babes, and a strong, decisive character, to boot. I'm looking forward to this, new FX or not ...

Frankly, I'm not getting my hopes up that a LOT will be changed and in any really cool, standout way in this episode. Most of the action takes place on the surface of Ekos and I'll just be happy and content if some of the cheesier B&W stock newsreel footage from WWII is replaced by something a little more believable and reflective of the native, local Ekosian culture.
