Syfy Sneak Peek of the Stargate Universe episode 2x05 Cloverdale'

Looks bad and boring.

Wow an entire thread was deleted from gateworld Forums cause people were bashing SGU and its low ratings. What a joke.

lol, so they are doing a "Cloverfield" episode?

When he got hit by the car that looked very amateurish, like amateur video students from university were filming it or something, very fake looking.

I can't understand why SYFY didn't rotate the fridat 10pm slot with SGU/Sancutary . In a perfect world SY FY would of handled Caprica scheduling better and its season one would of been close together not spread out in a stupid manner.

Imagine with Smackdown 8-10 all year round so...

SGU 1-10
Caprica 1-10
SGU 11-20
Caprica 11-20
Sanctuary kept as 13 episodes

Then repeat.

That would actually make sense really. There is what 52 Fridays in a year so Caprica might have to go but SGU and Sanctuary(which i havent ever watched yet) would be great.

Yes, an entire thread was deleted, Snick27. It's a thread I probably posted in countless times, but all the bickering got on my nerves and I've taken to posting mainly on the dedicated Trek forum there until further note.

That's what TPTB get when they make a boring as ****, out-dated show with a horrible unlikeable cast shouting and yelling at each other every week.

It's no surprise it's losing viewers, it's mostly a terrible show. It was moved to Tuesday to die.

re: Gateworld, what a pathetic joke of a website that is. Impossible to say anything negative about a show on the forum.

I'd been hoping that the change in tone of SGU might actually draw new viewers in though, which I suppose remains to be seen. I think a built-in flaw of science fiction franchises is that the fans tend to be dedicated to a very particular vision - whatever was the exact form the franchise took when said fan first fell in love with it. Nerds tend to be myopic and a bit obsessive. (Or more than a bit, depending.) Quality concerns aside, I always felt one reason Star Trek went downhill was because each successive series automatically lost a chunk of viewers /before/ it had a chance to drive them away with just plain bad episodes... because each new show wasn't precisely the same as the last show.
I think Trek went downhill precisely because each successive series was too much of the same. I do agree with you on Stargate though. I'm convinced that the fan base has problems with SGU in part because it isn't what they're used to.

^ I suggested that it was part of the problem fans have with the show, not the only problem. Pacing is also an issue. On that, I agree.

The title of this thread just made me think of this

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

On the contrary, each Star Trek series is pretty much the same. The same kind of characters, the same kind of stories, and so on. The only one that's different was DS9, and even that didn't start to be different until the third season. The first two seasons (moreso the first, but quite a bit from the second) consisted of stories which could easily have been done on TNG changing only the setting and characters (eg setting it on the Enterprise with Pircard as opposed to teh station with Sisko).

I do agree with you on Stargate though. I'm convinced that the fan base has problems with SGU in part because it isn't what they're used to.

I for one was willing to give SGU a chance before it aired, but by now I feel I've seen enough to say that it simply isn't a good show. And really, the only reason I'm still bothering with it is because it is Stargate.

I felt the same way about Atlantis. It had become so paint by numbers towards the end.

I find SGU fits into a different mold and I like it. I get why not everybody does though.

If they wouldnt drag out everything so much on SGU and have more adventure an some humor and explore and learn more about the Ancients and other aliens then more people would love the show.

It's true. While I have enjoyed the show, I was amazed that we went an entire season without learning a damn thing about the ship. And even though I also enjoyed the end of the season with the Lucian Alliance, I could not help but think, "Why the hell are they the main bad guys? They're on the other side of the universe!"

Look at Awakening: What did we learn about the Seeder ship or the aliens?

Waiting?

Still Waiting?

Whats the mission of Destiny? Its been 24 episodes in already. What is the point of the ship, is the whole point of this show just to show how people deal with being on a ship soo far from home that they cant make it home?

What have we learned about the Blue Aliens? What do they want and where they from?

Point of this is the writers havent addresssed anything and havent answered a darn thing and keep dragging it out to where i think people just get bored and give up.

Could you imagen if on Atlantis it took the crew over a year to find the wraith and spent the whole first season fighting with each other and just spent the episodes looking for food etc and never did anything else.

SG-1 had 10 years of TV time, it seems SGU NEEDS 10 years of TV time to get everything out there. SG-1 would have fit better in what will probably be a short series of SGU, heh.

Problem of the show is that O'Neill or Sheppard would have returned to Earth in the very first episode. No friggin' intrigue shit fuck by totally incompetent losers. They would have done their job, kicked ass, cracked a joke, and scene.

So, if we lose SGU, would this be the first time since, what, 1987 that there is NO first-run spaceship-based show on TV? Thank God I have Netflix and can watch reruns of old series

At least Atlantis had fun characters to make the dull, predictable and been-done episodes slightly more enjoyable. SGU doesn't even have that.

Depends, do you consider Doctor Who spaceship based? If yes, then we still have that. If no, then yeah, we're back to the pre-87 dark ages.

But on the plus side, I'm sure SGU's finale will be a valentine to the fans and feature the entire original SG-1 cast. Except for Don Davis, of course :(

Actually, I expect SGU's finale to be like that regardless of when it ends.
