I have been re-watching the Trek series, and I'm in Season 6 of Voyager. I just watched "Pathfinder" for the first time since it originally aired, and I got all teary-eyed when Barclay successfully made contact with Voyager.
I didn't cry, but maybe a little watery. Even not caring much for Voyager, I thought that was a really great moment, huge for both the series and the characters and it was well played all around.
I always get a little misty eyed (sometimes tearful) at the end of season 4's "Living Witness". It was like Gene Roddenberry's Trekkian philosophy beautifully illustrated.
"Pathfinder" has a beautiful ending too. So, no. You're certainly not ridiculous.
