Past Tense - Date of the Episode is Approaching

I've been watching The Flash recently, and it also has a "generically far in the future" event happen in 2024. And Trek did this twice, with DS9 and PIC going to now. What is it about this year that makes it a time travel nexus? It's almost as bad as London in the 1940s.

Too many people nowadays have forgotten the art of subtlety and moderation; tribalism from any side is off-putting.

Interesting. It's difficult to discuss the article without delving into politics, but it feels like the discussion, especially the host, is trying to shoehorn the series into a specific strand of political radicalism, not the broader, nuanced progressivism that Behr arguably preferred.
Yeah, definitely a bit far there, but I did like how they brought up that Kira was a major departure from previous characters and Bajor itself was a departure in how cultures were usually presented.

My like fir BTC is kinda on the line, but this segment was great. Why do people support Trump again?

Once again we have to send our gratitudes to the amazing genius Henry Starling whose dabbling with timelines obviously moved some events forward or made them not happen.

This great man who started the "computer revolution" is worth to be remembered for that and more.

For DS9 it simply may have been '30 years from now' (episode apparently was filmed around October '94, so perhaps the script was originally written in August of that year), for PIC I suppose they basically wanted it to happen '20 minutes into the future' (but in an alternate universe).
