A few hours ago I heard that Barbara Reader had passed. I’ve only ever spoken with Barb online but we connected after she messaged me about Intrepid, and I was honoured that we were her gateway into Star Trek fanfilms.

Barb started the Star Trek Reviewed website over a decade ago to document the many Star Trek fanfilms out there. She never lost her enthusiasm for such works, and I always found her insights to be of worth. Even as her health failed her, she recruited others to help continue the site. She was just an awesome lady.

Many of you may not have known Barb, or know who she is, but the fanfilm community owes her its gratitude for her efforts and her kindness over the years. She was one of us and she will be sorely missed.

As far as I know, they do.

Here's a notification to @jespah to begin the process.

All of us involved in any kind of fan production owe a debt of gratitude to Barbara. Whether it was a production that aspired to "professional" quality or just a group of friends having fun, she did her best to make sure everyone had a chance to be seen and/or heard. Godspeed Barbara and thank you. :weep:

So sad to hear. When I was doing fan films a few years back, we discussed having them on her webpage for fan films. She seemed like a very sweet person to me, and I was grateful to her for helping me promote my fan films. She will certainly be missed, even by those like myself who didn't know her personally. :(

I still have trouble digesting this...
A few years ago, I forget when exactly, Barbara confided to me that her health was seriously deteriorating. You could have bowled me over when she asked me if I would take over her Trekfilms website. I was flabbergasted since at that point we had only corresponded a few times here. I had to refuse because at that point in my life I really had not the spare time to do justice to her pride and joy.
I felt so bad about turning her down, but eventually I sorta, sorta felt a little better because she managed to find others to do so...
I went out last evening, and I actually did a toast to her memory and legacy.
    I can't thank her enough...

Someone else I will never get to meet. I’d rather it had been me.
