Passengers(2016)

A lot of people preach about forgiveness, but I've noticed that only a very few are really capable of it . . . even when the person who did wrong seems genuinely remorseful.

My only real problem with this movie is that once Laurence Fishburne appeared, the plot seemed to race toward the finish.

I liked it 6.5 out of 10 for me.

It's got flaws. What movie made today or in the past doesn't have them. No movie is perfect (except maybe the Godfather lol) and what you or I might like someone else is going to hate with a passion, and shit on your day for liking it.

Having said that I liked the movie. What Chris Pratt's character did was douchy but then given that situation what would you have done? Can you really say you wouldn't have done or considered something similar? Aurora's reaction to me is perfectly understandable.

There's a bunch of flaws with the ship such as its terrible design, and lack of protocols like say waking the crew in an emergency. Looks like they had some kind of emergency here don't ya think? Anyway still enjoyed the movie. I do know that the movies original idea for an ending was a lot darker and had to do with I think dumping the hibernation pods. But movies seldom have dark endings and Hollywood is too scared to do that kind of thing. That is where books excel in my opinion.

And with that that's all I have to say.

I suspect that many people believe they would never do what Pratt's character did. I don't know what I would have done. And the ironic thing is that I found myself wondering if Jennifer Lawrence's character would have done the same . . . especially when it looked as if Pratt's character was about to die.

Just showed this to two friends who'd never heard of the film, both moderate scifi fans, and they loved it. I think the movie will go on to be a minor classic in scifi circles.

I think had the roles been reversed Aurora would have likely done the exact same thing and woken up someone to keep her company. But I wonder if viewer reaction would have been different to that situation with her as the protagonist.

...and with that I don't have to say anything because I pretty much agree with every word. Also gave it a similar rating (6/10). Though I haven't read the book, I would have preferred a darker ending; and I definitely would not have done what Pratt's character did. I'd rather spend my days in a solitary state than make that ultimate decision for another human who I had no pre-existing relationship with...

The film did have a darker ending but they scrapped that for a Hollywood ending.

Yeah, that's what I was responding to (the statement that the ending was changed from the book). LIke I said I haven't read the book, but I assume I would have appreciated the darker ending more than the Hollywood tripe (of sorts) that was subbed...

I would have much preferred the original ending they had planned too.
