"Part Death Star, part Mordor"

NCC-1967

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but don't you find this EW description of Nero's ship promising?
I sure do!

When I conjure an image from that description I get a picture of the Scimitar. I would prefer if Nero's ship wasn't quite so God like. It was pretty ridiculous that after the Enterprise-E unloaded her entire arsenal on the Scimitar the shields were only at 80%. Then you've got the Thaleron weapon that takes 5 minutes to power up...

The Scimitar (by the way, what in Heavens was that stupid name all about? A "scimitar" is a muslim sword, it's got nothing to do with Roman culture!) was only a Bird-of-Prey on steroids, one of the most useless designs ever seen on Star Trek. Nero's ship will be awesome... I hope it will, I mean!

I read somewhere that the exterior of Nero's ship is shaped like an octopus. WTF? Yeah, Captain Kirk vs the giant time travelling space octopus is an episode I've always wanted to see. And by always, I really mean never.

I remember hearing that too, but who knows? that could be a bunch of mumbo jumbo

Yeah, I hated the Scimitar from a design and technical standpoint. The way it was presented in the movie made it seem more powerful than a Borg Cube, which is totally ridiculous.

The Scimitar is nothing more than a fanboy ubership that somehow found its way into a canon Star Trek production. Best not to think about it.

JJ had to do something with the left over Cloverfield monster suit when production wrapped -- "Quick add lights and call it Romulan"
