It's 2009. Anybody who is afraid of Friday the 13th needs to be punched in the face.
When I was in high school (way long ago 
) I was in shows that opened on a Friday the 13th.
Both were really terrific and I had a great time...so, no, not so much fear.

used to be pretty superstitious about Friday the 13th but not any more.
Just out of interest why is 13 supposed to be unlucky and why especially Friday the 13th?

That's kinda funny. Here's a couple of my favorite ironic and just plain funny ones.

The lunar calendar is has a remainder and was once worked into a 13th month year. From what I understand, the 13th month was abandoned in favor of 12 because early civilization encountered terrible weather/death/famine during the 13th month (folklore, of course).
There were also 13 participants at the Last Supper, many believed the "13th" to be Judas.
I'm sure there are other reasons.
Maybe if I lived near Crystal Lake... but I don't, so -- no.
I have always understood that Friday the 13th was unlucky because that was the day that Phillip the Fair of France forced the Pope to sign the edict that destroyed the Knights Templars.
2012 is coming out in theatres tomorrow. [(Happily for me)] I imagine that a trip tomorrow to see a film about the end of the world wouldn't be a good choice for someone with this phobia.
Phobia is a sign of weak-mindedness or ignorance - or both - in my opinion. An example would be my fear of spiders. At some point I felt that my immediate policy of killing them was based on an unacceptable psychology, and - lest it spread to other things in life - determined to overcome that fear by vowing not to destroy spiders merely because I didn't want to touch them. I have since become much more comfortable with them.

Threaten to punch them in the face on Friday the 13th probably won't really help their fear.
