Paramount wants the next Trek to be in 3D

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
Can I refer you to my posts 257 and 269? :)
Wow, somehow I managed to miss #257. That's embarrassing. Sorry, dude. :alienblush:

Think nothing of it. :) I have been known to overlook things occasionally too.

Speaking of which.

Your reference to "Lucien" doesn’t ring any bells at present. Perhaps my education is deficient in that regard.

The most elementary of Google searches yields True History by Lucian of Samosata.

I think my search was a little too elementary (and rushed). Anyway it still didn't click. :) Never-the-less, thanks for your gracious assistance. ;)

However as per my previous post, I don't believe the date of the first example of SF is necessary to my position.

I imagine that’s the official position but I don’t see any rationale for it.

The officials evidently don't have my phone number, because I have no idea what an "official position" on a matter of observation and logic would be. Seems like a casual misuse of the term.

And a rare misspelling on my part. Mea culpa.

I just meant most people, including those who might know, would probably agree with you. Perhaps you thought I was being smart about your misspelling. Thanks for mentioning that by the way. I appreciate it for the reason given below! Actually I didn't realise it was wrong.

In fact, since I got back to it sometime later, I didn't even spot that CorporalCaptain had corrected it before implying I was too lazy or stupid to search the web, which I always do before exposing my ignorance, for obvious reasons. ;) At first I thought I was going crazy because when I searched again on his corrected version I got results somewhat closer to what he reported, instead of "… a male given name of French origin." etc.

Anyway, no hard feelings on my side, but perhaps there is a moral in there they could use for the next movie.

Guilty for implying laziness! And I apologize for sounding like a jerk, which I will endeavor to dial back in the future. However, I didn't mean to suggest you were stupid.

My Google search was simply for lucien science fiction, with spelling error and all. Since I could expect many looshuns I asked for only those relating to SF. The first hit is to the wiki on Lucian. :borg:

Dennis has reasons for his opinions, and they are usually good ones, even when he is wrong or just being gruff. Given that, it's generally worth digging into the facts as long as it takes to find out just what he means. Not that you're likely to change his mind even if you're right. :brickwall: But you'll likely learn something in the process.

P.S. I'm a newb here, but I posted on his subspace board for years. Or at least it was someone with the same name. Who talked about the same stuff. In the same way.

Thanks for that John (CorporalCaptain). Well perhaps "stupid" would have been closer to the mark after all since my search was indeed more elementary than that. :) Though the correct spelling works too. Phew!

Actually I am not a really arguing that Dennis is technically wrong, subject to what is included in "Fantasy". Basically I am just annoyed that SF and Fantasy are lumped together on my town Library's selves!

There couldn't be two of them could there? ;) :)

Anyway, if no one else has said it, welcome.
