"paramount should quit streaming"

How did this turn into a Doctor Who thread?

As to Paramount+, with news of Prodigy going to Netflix in most territories, it makes me wonder if that's the eventual fate of the rest of the back catalogue of Trek as well if Paramount+ continues to struggle. Kind of a full circle moment for nuTrek, considering that Netflix underwrote so much of Discovery at first.

Well, Paramount will just start licensing it again as the market goes through a contraction.

That's business.

Yes, it's business and I know they'll start licensing it again if P+ goes away, but I guess I should have added that I was surprised Netflix decided to work with Paramount again after Paramount kind of pulled the rug out from under them at the last minute with Disco Season 4.

Doubtful it was as last minute as we were privied to.

And it's business. If Netflix sees a way to make money then they will take it. Taking such decisions personally means you don't work with people for very long and that's not how to build relationships in Hollywood.

Netflix and the Hageman brothers, the showrunners of Prodigy, had a pre-existing relationship. They made a succesful animated series for Netflix, which probably helped.

Moreover, Netflix has never stopped carrying the legacy ST series (Voyager etc) in large parts of Europe, so the ties with Paramount were never entirely cut either.

I tend to agree, even though I mostly stopped watching Netflix and everything I liked was ending, and the price kept creeping up in the meantime.

Paramoiunt+ has a terribly confusing international launch and all this time better seems no better. I bought an annual pass as I believed the app was available on consoles when I did a search before purchase. However, more than a year later, it's still not available. I found a used Fire Stick which seemed to do the job, until eventually I could get it on my LG smart TV.

We still haven't got 4K streaming here, and servers are pretty hit and miss usually.

Now P+ are going full circle and going back to using Netflix again. :wtf: The company that P+ removed the DIS catalog from at the last minute. It beggars belief. :D

Confusion for everyone is the Future of Trek. :techman:

You joke, but many audiophiles have gone back to Vinyl because it provides a certain sound quality lacking in digital CDs. The format is actually making a bit of a comeback.
Making?

It's extremely popular and has been since I worked by a media store. My daughter's generation is currently looking at purchasing vinyl more.
Once the soundtrack comes out on vinyl.
One is more likely than the other.

Most of the recent physical releases of Star Trek soundtracks have only been on vinyl, Disco Season 1 chapter 2 was the last CD released.

In spite of the nostalgic appeal of vinyl, this is a bit absurd. CD is much more practical that vinyl, has at least as good sound quality after the vinyl has been played a few times (since vinyl wears down by playing it) and actually still a decent alternative to webbased content. At least mp3's etc are, at this time, not DRM'd.

CD may became fashionable again at some point, with the same appeal vinyl has now.
