Don't worry -- I'm sure the network will get plenty of nitpicking letters from aviation geeks, and that mistake will be corrected in future episodes.

Nitpicking aviation geeks like me? Well, I'd never "worry" about it enough to write a letter, but after 30+ years of planespotting a thing like that just kind of jumps out at you. The glimpse of the S-58 helicopter looked nice.

It will also be interesting to see how many of the captains are 30-ish like the ones in the trailer, rather than the WW2 veterans that dominated PA and the rest of the Big 5 through the '70s.

what's Pan Am? (born in 1990)

Short version: Pan American World Airways was one of the original "major" US airlines and for many years the only one allowed to fly outside the US. Its exotic international destinations and ocean liner-inspired style gave Pan Am an image of glamor and class that set it apart from other American carriers, and its blue globe logo became an iconic American symbol. Heavy expenditures in new jets, increased competition and the lack of domestic routes put Pan Am out of business in 1991.

Pan Am was once so iconic that it turned up in SF.

The "space clipper" that takes Dr. Floyd to the space station in 2001: A Space Odyssey, for example, has the Pan Am logo on it.

And I once saw a magazine cover that showed a space shuttle with the Pan Am logo on it, docking with another space station. That painting doesn't seem to be on the internet, or I would have posted a scan.

cool. i guess like Alias and Covert Affairs they'll use some CGI and stock footage and do it well.

Series sold to broadcasters in Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific region

sales to Canal+ in Spain, IMAGICA BS in Japan, Sony Entertainment Television across Latin America and TF1 in France. Other broadcasters set to air Pan Am include the Nine Network in Australia and CTV in Canada.

This is pretty good news as if ABC decides to cancel this show most likely it will continue for other markets and Blu-ray/DVD sales available...
