Palin steps down as governor

Could you please show where anyone has said that she's failed (miserably I may add...in everything she's ever done) because she's a woman? Because THAT would be sexist.

Calling her hot isn't sexist.

Saying she's incompetent isn't sexist just because she's a woman. There are plenty of incompetent women out there. She's an idiot, who happens to have a vagina.
Exactly. What's going to happen if she was President and some country tried to start something, are we going to call them sexist?

Just because she can't handle being in government, doesn't mean that others can't. There are plenty of women who could be a great President, but she clearly can't.

You know what is sexist?

Holding her to a different standard by calling all criticism of her sexist.

It's been the Republican way in recent years.

Don't like the War in Iraq? You're a terrorist sympathiser and saddam lover.

Don't like Sarah Palin and the way she does things? You're sexist.

Though in the case of the later the ranking hypocrisy of certain Republicans is breathtaking.

Just ask them about "always supporting the President" now.

She's done and no amount of wishful thinking can reverse the fact that she QUIT the job she was elected for. By not finishing her term she is betraying those voters that thought she was the right person for that job. "To avoiding being a lame duck" is the stupidest excuse I've ever heard a politician say. "Family reasons" at least sounds legitimate. Just remember your history, politicians resign for 2 reasons, they can no longer politically DO the job (Nixon in '74) or they physically or mentally CAN'T do the job. (See Strom Thurmond and his chairmanship of the Armed Services Committee and declining to seek re-election after 2002).

And this...is reason #3:

She is painfully aware that so long as she remains in office, she will have to answer attack after attack after attack. This requires money--read "legal fees". As of now, the state's half-a-million in the hole due to those "ethical complaints"--complaints that were all proven to be completely FALSE.

They'll keep coming. She knows this. So long as she is governor, she will have to pay through the nose to cover the defense against these constant attacks. She is far too honorable to ask the taxpayers to take on this burden.

The only possible option, then, is to put a stop to these charges. And as of now, the only way for them to stop is to leave public office...for now.

I agree. The conduct here, sadly, exemplified the point I made very early in the thread--that apparently, given that this is a woman, and a conservative, a whole other level of sexual, familial, and personal remarks are tolerated than would be otherwise.

The sexism is quite obvious: if you can't see the posts describing the sexual services some people have said they want from Palin, you need glasses.

I must say I am very disappointed to see this behavior from fans of a show that depicts a future where humanity supposedly strives to evolve above that.

Seconded--on all counts.

Calling her hot isn't sexist.

No...but using crude sexual remarks in reference to her--IS!

Well she clearly can't hold down one job for a full term.
We don't know that she can't, only that she decided not to.

She's had 3 jobs in government.

She's quit all 3.

Pretty shitty track record.
 Term limits as mayor. And it's well known why she left the commission. So no, not "shitty."
Sure, Obama was only in federal office for 4 months before starting his presidential campaign and runs his administration like he's a movie star.

January 2005 - February 2007 equals 4 months now?

Pretty shitty math record.

Some say he started even before becoming senator. To me a few months after he first started and after his 2004 DNC speech. That's when I noticed the press first really getting behind him. And again, not "shitty." Although your language is.

Is Palin getting treat any worse than what Hillary has been through?
I haven't heard Palin getting described as a witch/lesbian/cankle-owner.

And lets look at the family angle: What hell did Chelsa live through during Bill's time in the white house, the various jokes? And we still have people that swear that Hillary had Vince Foster killed.
Limbaugh described Chelsea was the Clinton dog.

Is Palin getting treat any worse than what Hillary has been through?

Was Hillary still getting smeared after Obama won the nomination?

Are there tons of ethics complaints being levied against her?

Are there sexist cracks being made about her throughout the boards?

There's your answer.

"Iron my shirt" does NOT compare to what Palin's been through.

In case you're wondering...Sean Hannity defended Hillary like you wouldn't believe. Say what you will about his beliefs, he's an honorable man who is not afraid to defend this kind of injustice--no matter what.

He's the President of the United States.

Your old boy and his gal pal lost.

If she runs again in 2012, she'll lose again.

And Obama's second inaugural will take place in 2013.

That is all.

Well hopefully she'll find some sort of talent. Running anything form of government doesn't seem to be her strong area.

What are you talking about? She's done a terrific job in Alaska. What did she have when first running for VP - 80% approval? She sure had a heck of a lot more experience and successes than BHO.

That approval went from 80 to just above 50 now, and she hasn't done much of anything this legislative session.

And mayor of 6,500 for a couple of years and State legislator for a couple of years are pretty much the same thing.

Oh Bullshit.

Hilary has had to put with nearly 20 years of smears from the GOP.

That Palin has ethics complaints has nothing do with the fact she is a worman it has to do with things like her storing government e-mails on non-government servers for starters and other questionable activiies.

Hannity's a fugly cunt who would only defend Hilary because he could use to attack Obama.

Read the Time article linked earlier in the thread.

She hasn't doesn't much any any legislative session.

Hell she couldn't even be around when trying to get her nominee for Attorney-General confirmed - she had to go out to talk to pro-lifers in Indiana.
