Pages from "Build the Enterprise"

So is there any place to get these? Nobody seems to have them on eBay. I gather from your post that it was a limited run but I'm not clear on the details.

"Limited" is the operative word. The marketing of the seven physical issues of the project was done in a *very* small area in Japan around Hiroshima, if I recall. Nothing outside of that. How they expected to extrapolate that into a full release of 100 issues, I have not a clue. UK, the rest of Europe, and the US would certainly have gotten them a lot more sales, I'm sure. But it just didn't take off enough at home for Deagostini to commit, and that's all they seemed to focus on.

That's an amazing gallery! Much more on that project than I've seen. It adds to my disappointment that it never got off the ground. Thank you, M2m.

I just hope the more is known about this amazing project the more fans will urge this come to live again.

Agreed. I wonder if this didn't take off for fear that a subscription model would fail. Eaglemoss has proven that wrong. I'd love to have Build The Enterprise.

Although, to be fair, we don't know how Eaglemoss' sales break down, aside from the subscribers, they also sell single issues individually at newsstands and through their website - and from the comments in the Eaglemoss thread, not everyone gets every issue.

Good point, drt. I had forgotten that the Eaglesmoss issues are available in stores/stands.

Also, eaglemoss sells a lot of little ships. It's easy to get excited for the next new ship and learn its history. They're releasing the NCC-1701-J early next year and I'm looking forward to it even if it's one of my least favorite Enterprises. There's variety, and a story for each one. I'm not a fan of the fictional history (particularly when they go off canon like the supposed loss of the Enterprise-B), but I love the real world design stories. Watching the Defiant go from an upgunned runabout to an evolution of a preexisting Maquis design is fascinating.

Now a bunch of decks of the same ship? Even I'm not THAT enthused about seeing the holodeck or battle bridge issues. Oh man, next month is the dueterium tank! It's cool, but there's no anticipation.

Having said that, and as illogical as this sounds, I wouldn't mind dropping $3-400 in one shot for the whole thing at once. $500 might be a bit much, especially for a box scale one-off.

It seems Rick is selling some on eBay right now. Wish I was that rich!

Mmmm. Think I'll wait until mass-production/distribution kicks in with multiple sources. Always drives the prices down.
