On the Picard pictures front, WhoaNellie will be pleased to know that Patrick Stewart's sixpack was being discussed at the London meet-up yesterday over Chinese food. They should have been there! :borg:

I always leave these events too soon. And it wasn't that much of a sixpack last time I saw it. :o

Hey, hey, hey, I realize time marches on but some of us would rather not have our lascivious little fantasies popped.

The man was simply delectable during "First Contact" and "Insurrection." I can't watch "Insurrection" without wanting to take Anij aside and point out, "If you're sitting next to a hunk of masculinity like that and you've discovered how to slow down time and the best you can come up with is watching a damn humming bird than you are suffering from a sever lack of imagination."

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie

^A severe lack of imagination that Vash certainly doesn't or wouldn't have. ;)

 In the amount of time Anij spent watching that silly humming bird Vash would have taken the good captain of the Enterprise on at least several delightfully libidinous excursions to jamaharon. ;)

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie

Each one better than the last, I'm sure. ;)

I wonder if Jean-Luc would ever cry out "Take me to Xanadu!!!"...

Call me an old romantic, but I'm going have one last shot at this thread...

Question: Do you think Bev and Picard divorced in AGT because of his illness or did they break up before then? Obviously I'm calling for wild speculation here. We'll never truly know.

^It doesn't seem remotely Bev-esk to leave him over the strain caused by a serious illness, especially since she would understand what was going on. It's more likely that they left each other because they're both as a stuborn as the 25-hour computer-regulated day is long. Without a command structure, they could probably bicker for a long time.

I think they had broken up before his illness. Look at the way Bev takes care of him and is with him all throughout the series. I don't think they could really get down and marry, unless they were both willing to make some serious sacrifices. They tried to settle down with each other, it didn't work because they butt heads, and they break apart. If Bev had known about the Irumodic Syndrome, I think she would have been with Picard like salt goes with pepper.

I agree with Scatta that it doesn't seem like Bev to leave Jean-Luc while he was suffering from a serious illness, but it could well have put a lot of strain on the relationship. I have read fanfics where he withdrew from her after being diagnosed, not wanting to be her patient rather than her husband, and not wanting to put her through the pain of having to watch him deteriorate. I found it quite realistic that he in a way would sabotage the relationship if he thought it was in her best interests overall. No doubt she would find such a decision on his part to be incredibly patronizing...

I haven't watched AGT in a long while, but perhaps Beverly's career as a line officer and Captain might have had something to do with it. I see it lots of times in real life when someone puts more into their job than their home life, something always gives.

Valeris He hasn't done anything quite like that, but he did show a certain degree of pride when it came to his own dignity in medical matters (i.e. "The Samaritan Snare," if that was the one where he was on the shuttle with Wesley to get a new artifical heart and there were complications and Pulaski had to save him). However, I don't know how that would apply where Beverly is concerned. Relationships and family have never seemed to reduce his need for dignity before, though, so I think that pride would still apply.
