Isn't the P/C thread famous for being off-topic?
I've been learning more about the Right Honorable Margaret Beckett recently, and I've come to the conclusion that she's been getting short-changed. There are quite a few achievements that can be given to her, especially in regards to climate change and global warming.

Are you writing a biography of Mrs. Beckett, or is that still in the future?
In the future, and quite possibly permanently in the future. Still, it's good to dream.
I've been an admirer of Margaret Beckett since--well, since I was your age, as patronizing as that sounds! She's had a fascinating career, having been at the center of Labour Party politics since the mid-seventies, with a couple of shifts in ideological allegiances along the way.
I could say much more, but this probably isn't the place. A thread in TNZ, perhaps?

Ah Margaret Beckett. I remember when she was Bev to John Smith's Picard. I fear it's all gone a bit Pulaski now.

Thank you: I quite like scifi and series with a surreal flavour to them. I also like for there to be some sort of emotional content, and of course there has to be plenty of spoken dialogue as I am trying to learn while watching.

But is Margaret Beckett still out of place? I mean, at the beginning she certainly was, being thrown in headfirst. Mere hours after being promoted, she had to fly to New York City for a meeting of other Foreign Ministers. She had to learn on the run. I think, taking everything into consideration, she's done a very good job.

She's certainly out of place on the Blairite ship. She never was a Blarite loyalist or a modernizer, even though she's been around for long enough that people are (wrongly) starting to mentally associate her with Blair now. I hope that Gordon Brown will decide to keep her on.
On the Picard pictures front, WhoaNellie will be pleased to know that Patrick Stewart's sixpack was being discussed at the London meet-up yesterday over Chinese food. They should have been there!

Sorry I missed that. I'm sure it was a stimulating conversation.
It would be a bit of a drive from where I'm in the States and it is dance recital time along with little league season. Most evenings I'm trying to be in two places at the same time. I have joked to Mr. Whoa Nellie about the transporter accident in "Second Chances" that created two Rikers so I could be at both of our children's activities. As it stands he goes to the little league games with our son and I take our daughter to her dance practices.And on that subject, Happy Mother's Day to any of the mother's on the board.

On that, I agree. While I think she deserved being chosen for Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, she's been forced to oversee a DFA (or Defa or whatever) that has been increasingly marginalized and forced to bow to the Prime Minister. She and Blair never were "chummy" to begin with...
That being said, I think Mister Brown would be wise to keep "Safe Hands" at the wheel of foreign affairs.

The entire thing is plotted in 63 steps at 29 days and 17 hours, 29 days of which are alotted for swimming the Atlantic. Someone would have to be a good swimmer with excellent stamina, though. That's over 119 miles a day at a pace of almost 5 mph, without stopping or sleeping for almost a month.

I always leave these events too soon. And it wasn't that much of a sixpack last time I saw it.
