P/C: our thread is eternal

let's say we wander back toward the line...

Oy vey! The founder of the Nation of BONC-lam didn't intend for the phrase "hot sex" to become some sort of trademark around here.

mackillian You should know by now that any mentions of fan fic by me are idle threats. ;)

As for getting back on topic, I've tried that many times. We actually need something new to say. Does anyone have anything?

^ He was the Captain. All of his best dramatic moments barely involve Beverly.

I'll accept that having her mooch around in Season One helped soften his perceived character, but does she really figure that much the rest of the time?

Sarek, The High Ground, Sub Rosa, Attached, The Naked Now, Encounter at Farpoint, All Good Things..., all had significant dramatic moments involving Picard and Crusher. And there are probably more, if I didn't not have a lack of caffeine this early.

I'm thinking more of the blockbuster Picard moments like Chain of Command II, Inner Light, First Contact (movie). I grant she was in his good scene in Sarek, but she didn't add anything Troi couldn't have.

And while I'm on a roll, no way can you have Sub Rosa as dramatic. It's not the first word that springs to mind. :p

Yes, you can. The candle, the solo sex scene, the rising of the corpse from the grave...

Uh...AV We're talking about Picard's and P/C's dramatic moments. He wasn't even in all of those.

I would agree that P/C contributed to his character and she did throw a wrench into the "perfection" of his reasoning, but I'm not sure I'd agree to the original wording.

I guess a lot of it depends upon what kind of drama you like. To take Data's words from "Haven" and reapply them to P/C, albeit loosly, since they were discussing issues rather than being petty, "Please continue the [...] bickering; I find it most intriguing." (I may have misquoted slightly.)

Let's have a round of 'what would have happened if...'

Assuming Crusher and Picard had got together in some way at the start of season three (maybe not marriage; more breakfast with benefits), what episodes would have changed and what would have not?

I'm inclined to think he might still have slept with Vash on Risa. I’m basing this on it being a fling, completely separate from his life on the Enterprise, and all the more reason not to mention her to anyone afterwards.
