P/C: our thread is eternal

With R/T it started out with a reunion, where both were equally shocked and uncomfortable around each other. But, if one or the other got together with someone else at first, there was frustration. It sort of developed from there, where they were "together" in Ten Forward as friends and doing psych evals and crew evals, and then they'd hook up with someone else (briefly, of course). And then they'd get closer to each other, while still seeing other people. Then came Season Seven, with that god-awful W/T storyline that went absolutely nowhere. And then Deanna ended up Riker him anyway, in the movies.

Question: If Bev hadn't been shipped off to Earth or wherever as "head of Starfleet Medical", would P/C have developed quicker, and possibly making the two even closer, so that the stellar cartography officer, Vash, and anyone else were quickly removed from the picture?

...so that the stellar cartography officer,
W/T...what can I say about it? If I was to try to be nice, it didn't do anything for me. But I'm not so I'll agree it was God-awful...

and she still doesn't deserve a name....

this relationship was done way better than R/T, IMO.

Well, aside from that whole resolution bit...

Hey! If they had resolution, what would bad TNG novels and often equally bad fan fic (with the exceptions of what some of you and several others have written) be written about?

----

Valeris Well, let's see. It took them spending 14 out of 15 years together to get to where R/T was in season 4...so I'm guessing no. I doubt that one more year would have helped that much. If anything, having Pulaski there helped. Beverly must have seemed like she disagreed with Picard a lot, until he had Kate to compare her to. ;) (I'm kidding with that last part.)

---

Nella does deserve a name. Of course, "Let's make a character who's a combined knock-off of Beverly and Vash" works too.

^Well, it's true. She even looks like a cross between Beverly and Vash to me. Actually, I think she looks a lot like Beverly, except that she fits that "type" that Vash, Anij, and Kamala were a little more. I think I'll test that thought, actually. The test will be prepared soon.

Edit I wasn't able to get the source images for the test I wanted to try on paint shop pro. I knew that, comared feature to feature the actress who plays Nella looks nothing like Gates McFadden to me, but something about them in character always struck me as similar. I was able to see that both of them having TNG make-up had a lot to do with it and that at certain angles (and only certain angles) something seemed similar about their eyes. I feel like it might be something to do with spacing or proportion of some aspect of their faces also, but I couldn't get pics that would work to fade into each other to test that. Grrr.

So I've set myself a fan-fic challenge. To write Jack's funeral without a) anyone secretly hiding their love (or angst-ridden words to that effect) and b) any sort of guest appearance by the dearly departed himself.

Hmm. I'm in serious want of a theme now. All suggestions appreciated.

Hmmm...does the story necessarily need to have Jean-Luc in it?

^No. But it's a huge artistic stretch for me to not include Picard in a fan-fic. I mean!

I'm currently pondering whether I can write it entirely from Wes' point of view. What does everyone think? I need help here from all you fan-fic writers.

Handling with that particular subject matter from the POV of a small boy or from an adult Wes remembering his father's funeral sounds very intriguing. Go for it.

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie

^I agree with Whoa Nellie.

Plus, how many fanfics bother to use it from Wes' point of view?

*Has read one, but probably isn't suitable for discussion...* :o

It just occurred to me to ask, is it going to be P/C?

Wow, would that even be possible?

I'm hoping for subtle P/C rather than laying it on with a melodramatic trowel. Though it's really about everyone's reaction to Jack's death. How their lives are going to change as a result.

I'll shut up and write it.

Just thinking about "Attached" makes me want to giggle...

in joy of course...

*edit* I don't have very many p/c pics on this computer, would anyone mind sharing some of their favorites? (non-maniped please :-D)

moncapitane If you write it from Wesley's POV, remember that you have to write in terms of a 5-year-old's thoughts. Though he was more advanced than most 5-year-olds, it's still going to be a very different viewpoint.

Wonderfulpolous Sure, when I have a bit more time. In the meantime, you should check out http://www.trekcore.com . They have screencaps by episode and you can just pull up your fave scenes.
