Ozzy sues for 50% of Sabbath name. Girl sues Sharon for pulling her ha

Oz hasn't got enough money these days perhaps? Why not take 100% & demand the name on old albums be changed to Ozzy & the 3 unimportant backup guys. & why not have Planet Earth renamed to planet Ozzy while he's at it?

He did write a grand total of 2 songs while in Sabbath, so I suppose it makes sense.

A former Playboy model has sued Sharon Osbourne, accusing the wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne of pulling her hair out during a reality show about etiquette.

This thread discussed the first matter a while ago. The general consensus and/or recollection was, that Ozzy voluntarily gave Tony Iommi 100% of the rights to the B.S. name years ago.

But it's clearly Sharon instigating the lawsuit, rather than Ozzy, he needs someone to wipe his butt for him ;).

Re: Ozzy sues for 50% of Sabbath name. Girl sues Sharon for pulling he

Ozzy can have the "Black" half.

The band will now be called "Sabbath". :p

Re: Ozzy sues for 50% of Sabbath name. Girl sues Sharon for pulling he

Thanks Pharazon. I was lucky to meet the Sabs few weeks ago. Interesting that the new Heaven & Hell album debuted at # 8. Highest since 1971 with Master of Reality, & Ozzy makes this play just after that. He spent most of 81-82 trying to derail this same lineup. Calling Dio a Dwarf & lying about Heaven & Hell songs being written by he before he left & crap like that.

He's not gonna gain anything from the average people like you & me from this. Y'know, the people who buy albums & go to shows.

Re: Ozzy sues for 50% of Sabbath name. Girl sues Sharon for pulling he

I preferred the Dio version of Sabbath, frankly. (Then again, I also prefer Sammy Hagar-era Van Halen, so maybe I'm just nutty that way.)

Re: Ozzy sues for 50% of Sabbath name. Girl sues Sharon for pulling he

Dio's voice is heavier than Ozzy's, hence Dio era Sabbath is heavier. When Vinnie Appice joined, Ozzy called it Geezer & the 3 Italians.

Re: Ozzy sues for 50% of Sabbath name. Girl sues Sharon for pulling he

I still like the original Sabbath, and most solo Ozzy, but like Dio's voice more. I'm a longtime Rainbow fan. One of the few recent CD buys was H&H, but not the last Ozzy album.
I like the "other" Sabbath stuff too, while not a lot of others do.

Calling Dio a Dwarf & lying about Heaven & Hell songs being written by he before he left & crap like that.
Dio seems to have that effect on people, Tony called him "Little Hitler" at one point after he left Sabbath in '82, and accused him of sneaking into the studio to overdub vocals on Live Evil.

Re: Ozzy sues for 50% of Sabbath name. Girl sues Sharon for pulling he

Dio is very upfront sort of person, which is a double edged sword. One one hand, he's confrontational & Tony mentioned he & Geezer learned to get out of each others way, but Ronnie didn't work that way.

On the other hand & perhaps more significantly, Ronnie never would have got anywhere if he didn't stick his neck out & take chances. When Rainbow formed he was replacing Ian Gillan & David Coverdale. Ian Gillan was/is one of rock's alltime greatest vocalists. When asked about replacing Ozzy, he said; I've faced bigger challenges when Rainbow was formed.

He was also very upfront with me in a positive way at the cd signing at San Berdoo.

In Scotland Rainbow played back in 75 & 500 odd kids were waiting outside hoping to meet Ritchie Blackmore,( missing the last train, standing in the snow. Next train was 7 AM next day), Ritchie slipped out a side door & split. 12 yrs later Dio played the same place, again a bunch of kids were waiting outside, Ronnie opened a door & signed autographs til 6 AM. Every kid got one.

Re: Ozzy sues for 50% of Sabbath name. Girl sues Sharon for pulling he

^ He didn't really replace anyone, Ritchie made the first Rainbow album (with 4/5 of Elf - w/o their guitar player) while he was still in DP, then released it after he quit that band.

And yeah, Ronnie is all about the fans. You can see that in any live performance he does. I was just saying, as the perfectionist he's supposed to be, he's occasionally hard to work/get along with. Most of the all time best are that way (Dio, Malmsteen, Michael Schenker)

Re: Ozzy sues for 50% of Sabbath name. Girl sues Sharon for pulling he

Dio is a cool guy (I've seen Heaven and Hell twice, although he does tend to talk too much). I do like Ozzy-era Sabbath better. But that's not because of Ozzy, it's because of Iomi. Honestly, Iomi is what makes Sabbath so kick ass and wrote the guitars. Geezer wrote the lyrics. I don't see where Ozzy has a leg to stand on with this.

Re: Ozzy sues for 50% of Sabbath name. Girl sues Sharon for pulling he

What Ronnie meant was it was inevitable that he would be compared to Gillan & Coverdale as they had just worked with Ritchie, he didn't mean it literally as is he were joining Purple.

Geezer also wrote the bass lines & couple tunes as well. One on 1st album & 1 from Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Listen to bass work on Juniors Eyes, or the line in the middle of Time Machine, or intro to Master of Insanity. Incredible stuff.

Ozzy & Blimpy made some harsh remarks during the Tony Martin era as well. Martin handled it well mentioning there were some insecure people babbling. Headless Cross was top 10 album as I recall in UK at the time.

Gurnee eh Pharazon. I lived in Mt Prospect for awhile. Met Geezer once at Indiana/Illinios border in 92. Met Exodus too.

Headless Cross & Tyr are my 2 favorite "non-standard" Sabbath albums, even without Geezer. The others are good too. Too bad the 20th anniversery of Headless Cross tour has been cancelled, might've been a really good show to see.

Ever hear any of the Geezer (GZR) albums? He really lets loose on those, but the vocals vary from the first one (Burton C. Bell) to the later ones.

Re: Ozzy sues for 50% of Sabbath name. Girl sues Sharon for pulling he

Geezer smokes on those. Man in the Suitcase & most of the 1st one & opening track on the latest one. I met him briefly on Plastic Planet tour opening for Bruce Dickinson, who was very friendly. I only got a minute with Geez, he was jumping into a Limo, but Bruce spent a good 10 minutes with us. The show was awesome. Front row at House of Blues.

Agreed on vox.

Headless Crotch, ( joke), was very good. However I like Cross Purposes best. Eternal Idol has a good mix. 7th Star has some interesting riffs & arrangements, but I'm not a Glenn Hughes fan. He has a decent voice, but not for Sabbath.

This is based on a true story that happened in the Middle Ages while the pestilence was going through Europe. In a small village called Headless Cross, the people went to the hill of the headless cross where they prayed to God for help. No one survived.

Re: Ozzy sues for 50% of Sabbath name. Girl sues Sharon for pulling he

Cross Purposes does have Geezer involved, so it's another great one. Currently the only Sabbath CD's I still have are all the non-Ozzy and non-Dio ones plus H&H. Sold a ton of CD's several years ago and never got around to replacing any of them. I'm currently on a power & symphonic metal kick, so that's mostly what I purchase these days.

Bruce Bruce is another performer you can tell cares a lot about the fans, again evident in the live performances and interviews. I did keep all the Iron Maiden 2 disc sets I had that included all the B-sides.

As far as the secondary story of this thread, what the hell was Sharon doing having anything to do with a show on etiquette? She's almost as foul mouthed as Ozzy.

Re: Ozzy sues for 50% of Sabbath name. Girl sues Sharon for pulling he

Immaculate Deception is one of Tony's all time greatest riffs.

Yah Sharon should be doing a show called how to be a Gold digging bloodsucker materialistic control freak witch. The 1st Ozzfest they left out Bill & Bill actually did a club show at the same I suppose to prove he was up to the task. Tony mentioned being toyed with when this whole reunion biz started back then. Same old song & dance.

Bill Ward Speaks Out on Ozzfest 2004

Earlier today, the news broke that Black Sabbath was to headline Ozzfest 2004, with a lineup of Ozzy Osbourne/Tony Iommi/Geezer Butler/Mike Bordin - without Bill Ward on drums. Here is a statement from Bill Ward about Ozzfest 2004.This morning I received the very sad news that Mike Bordin is to play drums with Black Sabbath on Ozzfest '04.

Black Sabbath is, and always will be an important priority in my life. I support Geezer's, Tony's and Ozzy's decisions to move ahead into Ozzfest '04 without me. I can appreciate they may not be overjoyed with the decision, and I'd really like to be with them. Nothing would please me more than to be a part of the show.

Last week I did receive a proposal which allowed no room for negotiation. It was a cul-de-sac proposal in my opinion, where the only answer was yes or no. I was asked to respond by Friday. May 14th. I wrote a brief letter of decline on Thursday, May 13th. I answered directly at the proposal, and left out any personal comments, other than I was sad to have to decline. What I did not put in my response was this:
I'm willing to be flexible
I'm willing to compromise
I'm willing to negotiate
I'm willing to play.

I understand and believe in a united front when it comes to Sabbath. I can appreciate the fallout from such a decision will upset some people, and I am so sorry. I'm more than willing to support Ozzfest in any way I can.
I've walked down this street before when Sabbath did the first reunion without me and had Mike Bordin play instead. I want you to know, I'm not being the bad guy here. I'm not trying to hold anyone to ransom. And I'm not trying to reverse my decision to decline in hope of a positive managerial response to this letter.
I'm ready, willing and able to rock. There are some details on the proposal that don't work for me. I guess it's a case of the importance of things on both sides and I think that's all I can say for now."

Re: Ozzy sues for 50% of Sabbath name. Girl sues Sharon for pulling he

Immaculate Deception and a couple tracks from Tyr really show off the blues influence. They did start off as "Earth - a blues based band", but you don't always hear it.

Re: Ozzy sues for 50% of Sabbath name. Girl sues Sharon for pulling he

Bruce Bruce

Now that's going back a ways! He hasn't performed as Bruce Bruce since, what? 1981?

As far as Sabbath goes, it's Dio first for me as well. I also like most of the Ozzy albums, but Born Again, Eternal Idol, and Tyr stack up with anything else they've recorded IMO.

Re: Ozzy sues for 50% of Sabbath name. Girl sues Sharon for pulling he

Ozzy himself said Born Again was the best thing they did since he left. H&H is better no doubt, but Born Again if anything proves they were relevant & still loaded for Bear minus Oz.
