Overused Internet Comments

On a Star Trek note, "fanwank" is one of my least favourite words ever.

I actually said "epic fail" IRL yesterday:eek:. It was the only way I could express how hard I was sucking at Peggle:(

One of my pet peeves is the use of multiple exclamation points. It makes us all look like teenage girls!!!!!

Multiple question marks are pretty silly, too, don't you think???

I really hate "First!". Most of the other overused Internet comments at least have some actual content. I don't like LOL either.

Agreed on "First!". FTW is also overused in my opinion.

I can't stand this either. If you call first on my blog or websites I will delete it, even if it includes comments after.

"Am I the only one...?" (usually followed by a completely mundane or popular thing lots of people have done or liked) -

No, no you're not. You have to follow that up with something pretty outlandish for you to be the only one on a board of thousands to enjoy it.

:rommie: I use that phrase all the time. But about 99.9% of the time I am using it to preface something that really is outlandish or invoking the phrase as a joke.

And I have always disliked using text speak so FML, QFT, etc are on my crap list, with the exception of LOL. I will tolerate that one. And the really long ones... I usually have no idea what you are attempting to say so don't even bother.

"n00b!"

usually said by some MW2 player who just kicked someone else's ass and just because the ass-kicker has a higher rank, he has to call the ass-kicked 'n00b!'

variants include adding the name of any weapon or attachment so "G18 n00b!" or "sensor n00b!"

I've decided after many years and many versions of CoD, there is no acceptable way to kill this type of player.
Machine gun? "OMG spray n pray n00b"
Rifle? "fuckin camper n00b"
Grenade? "nuff nade spam n00b?"
Shotgun? "cant aim then n00b"

I think it is the actual act of killing them that makes you a n00b.

None of the things mentioned in this thread really bug me, but the  is the most overused and annoying thing on the internet. GET RID OF THAT EMOTICON.

It's the single most useful emoticon of the lot (though :p isn't bad either).

What other emoticon can you use when you hear/write about politicians giving themselves a pay raise in the middle of a recession, see pictures of fat mummies smuggling candy bars and greasy foods into schools (so their kids won't have to eat all the health conscious stuff the school serves), Listen to someone say how ridiculous Trek is then rant about how fantastic Twilight or Hairy Potter is...

Well, it's easier than typing the mark and then typing the code for some emoticon but it has the same effect:

What was all that about?

Oh yeah, almost forgot: "l33t"

What does that even mean??

I'm not sure but I think it's hacker for "leet' which is short for "elite" which i guess they're suing to mean "the best". I'm open to correction of course.

Yep, that, and it's a 'language', a special way of typing actually, that makes it difficult for machinery to see if you're typing words that aren't allowed on the server you're using.

A l33t-code, is a simple string of characters holding information about how l33t (or "geeky") you are (see my profile for sample - although, I think that one needs a little update).

You don't need an emoticon though. You can just express your disagreement in a constructive way. Going all :rolleyes::rolleyes: just makes the poster look like a child and others less willing to engage in constructive discussion with him.

I'm getting tired of FML, just because of the overly mundane situations people use it in. I don't like it when people quote someone's post and then just say, "This." Ugh that is so irritating!
