I started with this way too late. I saw the original notification, thought *oh yeah, I am so going to participate in this*, but then life cought up and demanded my attention until the 29th... which is when I started this model. What you're seeing is a pod for use with the Mammoth runabout, a bit like Thunderbird 2 and 4 would be. The only difference here is that the pod itself becomes the craft, utilizing a lot of twisting and shoving components. The lights, for example, are used only when necesary, as they can create a lot of drag. When not in use, they pivot back into the main fuselage.

The interior of the pod is big enough to house two seated personel and one standing at the front console. If need be, it can carry some people in the airlock as well. The airlock also houses the two escape pods, which are little more than souped-up torpedoes with an emergency beacon.

Here's an early render showing you guys just how extensive the shoving of parts is: the wings with the waterjet nacelles hinge upwards, the rudders become flush with the hull and the clamps that connect it to a Mammoth pop out.

If need be, the ship can get into orbit under it's own power and land at a space based facility in orbit around the planet of departure. It won't get any further, though, and usually it won't need to as the mothership is probably close around. At the backside of the craft, a clampsystem makes it possible to attach another pod to the craft as well, making it an ideal vessel to haul containers across the ocean which contain materials that can't be transported.

I'm still thinking about making a TB2 and 4 version of the runabout with the pod
