Over 40s Club

^ What format do you have your ebooks in?

(I found that my iPad works quite well as a reader for Kindle-format ebooks. Especially the iPad 3)

Eh? What's that sonny? You'll have to speak up! I'm Oscar Leroy!!!!

I grew up in the 70s and didn't have an allowance. But my Mom would give me the money I needed to get the most recent comic book I wanted or candy bar.

cool! :) In my family sweets were almost completely forbidden. I guess it had something to do with my mom constantly making a diet. Turned out that cancer and a ray therapy were a far better way to lose weight than any diet (no yoyo effect). Life has a rather eccentric sense of humour. :D

I grew up in a house with a few thousand books. As I have three older brothers there were a lot of children's books in the house before I came along. As a result I don't remember not knowing how to read. My husband grew up in a much poorer house with hardly any books, but he is also a lifelong bookworm. Our children don't read as much as we do, but they all enjoy a good book from time to time.

By the time I was 12ish my allowance had jumped to $5 per week. At the time I had to visit the orthodontist about once a month. His office was in a shopping mall, so after my appointment I always faced a huge dilemma: do I spend my allowance on books or on music? On a lucky day I'd get back on the bus with a 45 *and* a book!
