Since I suggested it over in TV&M I thought I'd just go ahead and do it.

BBC 2 part-funded Defying Gravity, which didn't set the heather on fire, so it's interesting that they seem to be putting quite a lot of money into another scifi show so soon. (OK this one's Beeb 1 but I'm sure they don't operate independently of each other.)

Eric Mabius and Jamie Bamber look really alike to me.

It sounds like it could be very good, with hopefully the Aouth African locales giving it an alien feel. Very solid casting is another bonus. Plus with only 8 eps hopefully it won't outstay its welcome and won't need too much padding.

I don't see the Earth 2 comparison. Other than it being about people colonising another planet there's no real relation. I mean this sounds like the colony is already up and running and not a group of people stranded on a planet trying to make a go of it.
