Other Writing: Congrats to Trent Roman!

Krenn

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
I was rather surprised to see your name (I'm assuming it's you. How many Trent Romans can there be and how many of them write?) in the TOC for Cthulhu Unbound.

Cthulhu Unbound and Cthulhu Unbound 2, coming later this year from Permuted Press, will feature Lovecraftian horrors mixed with other genres: Westerns, Regency Romance, Space Opera, and (in my case) humor. Here is the TOC of the first volume, which I will post because not only are Trent and I in the same volume, but his story is right before mine.

1) Noir-lathotep by Linda Donahue
2) The Invasion Out of Time by Trent Roman
3) James and the Dark Grimoire by Kevin Lauderdale
4) Hellstone and Brimfire by John Goodman
5) Star Crossed by Bennet Reilly
6) The Covenant by Kim Paffenroth
7) The Hindenburg Manifesto by Lee Clark Zumpe
8) In Our Darkest Hour by Steven Graham
9) Blood Bags and Tentacles by DL Snell
10) Bubba Cthulhu's Last Stand by Lisa Hilton
11) Turf by Richard D. Moore
12) The Menagerie by Ben Thomas
13) The Patriot by John Goodrich
14) The Shadow over Las Vegas by John Kiel Alexander
15) Locked Room by CJ Henderson

You can expect lots of plugging of these volumes any chance we get.

Thanks, Krenn, and congrats yourself. For those who don't know, Krenn is John Goodrich, author of "The Patriot", lucky thirteen in the above list. Wonder how many other writers on this project frequent TrekLit.

The juxaposition should make for an interesting contrast; my story tends towards the bleak, and I'm sure readers will appreciate something funny afterwards.

I was pretty thrilled when I saw Kevin's name on the e-mails for the books. This makes Kevin the second SNW alum I've shared a TOC with (that I know of), after appearing alongside Brett Hudgins ("Fabrications", SNW VI; "Guardians", SNW VII) in the anthologies Twisted Cat Tales and the forthcoming Strange Stories of Sand and Sea. Always an ego-boost to see my name in print with Trek writers.

And, while I'm pimping Cthulhu Unbound in this forum, I'd be remiss not to give a shout-out to Christopher: it was reading about the Manraloth's statis field, and your able explanation of the underlying physics for us non-physicist folk, in The Buried Age that inspired me to create weapons based on quantum indeterminacy for "The Invasion out of Time". Like they say, if you're going to steal...

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman
