In one of the earlier concepts of TNG, Data was to be blue skinned with the actor being of Asian origin, though I've never heard if they ever had anyone read for him in that role.

I not sure. More characters would be an idea. Then again, they must have a job title and I am not sure we really need to talk about other issues dealing with the ship. What the cleaning crew chief, Captain Picard to Commander Bugs Bunny, have your crew vacumed the floor on deck 7?

Yaphet Kotto as Picard?!?! He's a pretty good actor, so that might have worked. Never thought of a Black Picard before, but there are a lot of Black folks in France, and that would have been a cool shout out to an often-overlooked culture.
JD Roth as Wesley might have been good, but then who would have hosted all the awesome game shows from the 80s and 90s?
That guy from the Amazing race as Geordi would have been interesting, but I think that he is too likable to play the sarcastic Geordi. Clarence Gillyard Jr would probably be my favorite alternate for Geordi from that list.
Not really familiar with the actresses to play Tasha, but that Julia Nickson lady looked interesting.
Patrick Bauchau would have been great as Picard, too, but I'm glad that we got Stewart. I cannot take Mitch Ryan seriously, as he is too much a veteran of sitcoms.
