This is a ship I never finished. And also my first project with 3DS Max. So, I am in a learning process too...I am working quite a bit around the engines and the wing area. The texture is purposely white, because it would be the final color.

At the same time, I am trying to do the Stormbringer from Serenity with a DVD training. The center section will change, that's for sure.

I did the engines in the back and mirror the all thing to get a global look.

What software do you model in?

This is 3DS max from Autodesk, with Scalpelimax plugin. I am learning it right now with this ship. I used Cinema 4D for the last 2-3 years, but I got frustrated with the lack of a proper UV map, a faulty mirror option, limited cutting features, restraining cloning, broken duplicate...after a while you only see the default. It's not like marriage but it must be close.

I worked on the textures because I need to fill the separation between the hull sections. Basically I did a bedroom outer wall with windows and such, and texture it. Just beginning to learn the option multi/object materials in 3DSmax. You can see the up and down two tones texture of the ship. I still need to learn all the parts about texture placement...

I decide to change my texture. Since I made my panels by hand, each time I superpose a tiling texture into the surface, I loose all that nice detailing. So, instead I want to do a simple bump map that will dictate a floral style of lining. I also think it fits better into the various curve shapes of the ship. That was anyway my intention, initially.

Well...I went back to Cinema 4D. I had so much troubles with texturing in 3DSmax. Problems with assigning multiples UV maps, giving an overall underlying texture, managing the alpha and a very difficult/obscure aliasing method for uvmaps/jpg. Fine software but as difficult as Maya when texturing. I import everything...So here the updates in C4D.

What's weird is that I am able to fix certain polygon problems in C4D, that was very difficult to do in 3DS. Yet both software have the same functions for doing this...?

J'ai changer mes textures pour des lignes plus conventionnelles. Ca se voit dans les deux dernières images. J'ai gardé le nom sur le vaisseau tel quel.

I changed my textures for something more conventionnal. You can see it on the last two images. I have done the name but kept the old style.
